GMAXX in 2 Magazines!!!

Hi all,

I'm writing this just to get a few comments on the GMAXX Projects of 2 popular magazines. The first thing I want to say is that both used the same voltage. Now one used a (Quark ESC 125 AMPS with a Feigao 8L motor and Maxamps 8000MAH Lipos) and the other a (MGM ESC 160 AMPS with a Lehner 1950/6 motor and Peak Racing 4800MAH Lipos). I do own Lehner and Feigao motors and from my understanding and from what I see in the forums, Lehner is a much better motor. The strange thing is the magazine with the Feigao motor posted a higher MPH (48 to be exact). This has raised one question from me. Does the MAH of a battery has anything to do with the speed? I'm asking this, because I run a Stampede with 2 battery packs and when I want amazing run times I run them in parallel and when I want crazy speeds I run in series. The reason why I asked the above question is when I run one pack it gives good speed, but when the capacity is doubled in parallel, it seems to have much more punch then with one pack.

Please give your comments on this.

Regards.

Simple, 1950/6 RPM per Volt is 2178 and the 8L is 3072 RPM per Volt

The reason you get more punch out of the parallel batteries is that the single battery can't deliver the amount of current the motor wants. Top speed will be affected much less because the current needed at top speed drops a lot. It's the acceleration that sucks amps and strains the battery.

Tis effect depends on the battery... some lipos would have the same issue and some don't break a sweat delivering 100 amps....

I would take the 1950 setup over the 8L setup any day!

the 8L is way too hot. It's nice it runs faster, but the question is ; how long would it take, before it looses it's magnetical energy.

I have seen the article about the 1950, bytheway. It's not the lightest revo you can get.

RPM arms, quite some aluminum. This doesn't help either. Both the batteries packs should be capable of delivering about the same power. the maxxamps he used could do a 2200 watts peak. and so can the peak powers.

Most likely the 1950 revo accelerated harder.

I wonder if they had they both geared correctly. The 1950 6t may have been undergeared some.

20/51 with stock diffs.

The gearing was what I first noticed. I've seen a EMaxx with the 1940 going over 50MPH. Brushless is amazing. When I lived in Florida, I used to go to this track in West Boca Raton and most of the guys there run nitro. It was funny to see all of them drive my Stampede. It has a Kontronik ESC with the Lehner Basic 4200. One guy was like, "I can't believe how quite that gas car is." Everybody was rolling on the floor laughing.
