Fastest Revo possible
What's the hot setup for street racing a Revo? I found the Carbon Fiber Chassis with GMx. There are so many motor and battery choices I can't figure out what's what.
I am looking to only street drag race for short bursts. I am looking for the ultimate power setup. Is the CF GMaxx chassis as long as the 3.3 chassis. I would like to be the same length as the 3.3 with the rear adjustable a-arms. |
The g2r is 1 inch longer than the reg revo. I think the 3.3 is 1 inch longer as well.
So that should make the same length. I don't have either so just from what I have read. |
I measured the G2R vs the 3.3. The 3.3 is actually longer, but just barely. Like .1 to .2 inches longer than the G2R. Put the offset arms on and you have no issues. Plenty long.
For drag racing, I would go with the Neu Motors. The torque generated by the 4 pole motor is unbelievable. |
You could make a couple new plates for the rear and make it 1 inch longer than the g2r and have no need for rear arms.

Traction is the biggest problem for me on street surface, my truck will spin all 4 40 series road rages on command. I would recomend a 22 series lehner on lipo if you want something different with a lot of power.

Wouldn't the 22 series be too much torque? I would think he would want to keep the front tires on the ground....the g2r is way light weight, not sure if he would need that kind of torque. IMO

A 22 series is overkill IMO since he would only be able to put down so much power... I think a Neu 1515, Quark 125, and 6S LiPo is the way to go...

I agree squee, But i would almost go Feigo on this since he won't really have to worry about a long run time and heat won't be that big of a factor. Unless he does race after race. but good suggestion, it would be one good set up!

I agree that traction will be the biggest challenge. Any of the brushless motors will overpower the traction on road. Running a center diff or Mikes slipperential would help the hole shot, keep the power on all 4 wheels and keep the front end down. See if you can put it together using the revo tranny w/ the center diff or wait until the slipperential comes out.

I changed courses just a little bit today. Since I already have a good carbon fiber LST chassis I decided to give it a run. I can always move the electronics over to a Revo if it's just too heavy. I have been watching the FineDesign LST brushless conversion and it seems pretty good so far. So lets change up the parameters a little. Fastest LST, more importantly, faster than any Revo "brushless setup." I am not looking for race after race, just one time let's get it on racing. I can handle any high temp's that build up. I am just looking for all out 20-40 sec runs with a cooldown. Give me the top dog "I must win" setup with no budget. |
To be honest, I would stay as far away from Fine Design as possible. Customer service isn't all that great...But anyway, I would go for a 2240 and a 24160 on 6S LiPo at the least. Maybe 8S. To be honest, a Revo would be wiser.

Put it this way. If there was a old rich guy at the end of the street with a 3.3 Revo (running really good) and wanted to run for pink's (kind of funny on 1/8th R/C) what would you bring to the table?
Overheating is not a problem on high speed sprints on pavement!! I am not going to a track to race for long periods. I just need a Brushless setup for about a 100 yrd dash and then cool down. I am going to run the LST so it will be alot more weight than a Revo. ???????????? |

I can still build it out of a Revo, I had a Revo 2.5 and loved it. I was just thinking the LST is better handling (yes) but heavier, so it might make a sweet brushless monster.

It will, but a Revo won't handle a 2240 with stock diffs. If anything, I would get 2 setups. One for the LST, and one for the Revo.
