Brushless for Losi XX-T

Do you guys think that a Feigao 380c 9T would be a good motor for a Losi XX-T? I have a chance to get it for cheap and it is new. I can also get a Mtroniks Genesis Sport Plus cheap, also new. Would the amps be heigh enough, 40amps average 60amps peak? The XX-T is stock except for an alum differential gear. I will be running 6-7 cells.

Anyone!!!!!!!!!!

Gut says yes... it would work. But it's always a good idea to over-do it on the controller. Are the specs on the controller only 40A continous?

I would want a better controller if that's what it's rated.

The motor would work fine.

My $.02 is pick up a Mamba Max to go with the motor... they are only $135. How cheap is the Mtroniks? If it's like $75 I would try it.... if it's around $100 I would definitley just buy a MM.

Better yet just get a MM system. They go for $212 and maybe less if you have a good LHS. I got mine for $199.95

I see the Sport Plus for $132 at dinballrc (hong kong/ebay type)... for that price I would not touch it.

Obviously... for $3 more you can get a speedo that is light years better... MM. ;)

I can get the 380c motor for $35 and the esc for $55 or he will sell me the combo for $80. I have seen both of them and they have never been used. He bought them 3 months ago for a project then decided not to do it.

glassdoctor 09.18.2006 02:02 PM

Ok... used but still nip.

I can't guarantee that will work GREAT but it should do pretty good. You will just have to experiment with gearing and find what the limits are.

I would give it a shot for that kind of $$.

Tazz 09.18.2006 03:27 PM

They are not used, they are new. The esc is still in original package never opened and the motor was also in the original box but he opened it but was never mounted in anything or had any wires or ends soldered on it. I have personaly seen both to varify that they have never been used.

"used" as in second hand, not from a retail store.... reason why it's cheap...
"nip" = new in package ;)

Let us know how it works...

I would think you'd want a 540-7s (5070 rpm x 7.2v = 36,504 rpm). that would be pretty fast and similar in performance but slightly slower than the mamba max which is 5700. The 8s would give you a max rpm of 31,903. Both examples assume a 7.2v/6-cell pack. A 7-cell or a Li-Po pack would effect the numbers and likely raise the rpm.

Here is the link to the motor specs for the 540 & 550 sized Nemesis/Feigao/Wanderer motors:

heyyy i thought this post was about me... nah just kidding... but i am having that problem with my charger dropping the amprage down to less than 1 for the charge rate... whats going on here with my LiPo's

Tazz 09.20.2006 08:49 AM

The reason I was thinking about the 380c (other than the cheap price I can get it for) is that I have a 380c in a motorcycle and it wieghs 4lb 11oz rtr (380c/7 and 7.2v battery)and the XX-T weighs 4lb 2oz rtr (brushed motor and 7.2v battery).

Procharged5.0 09.20.2006 09:54 AM

Puttinstankonia , sorry if I altered the topic.

Tazz, I get it now, but the 540 sized motors will still deliver much better torque. I'd go the 540 route. If you choose the 380 let me know what you think of it. I'd love to know how it performs.

I think Puttinstankonia posted in the wrong thread.

Well I went with the Feigao 380c 9T and Mtroniks Genesis Sport Plus, for $80 I just couldn't pass it up. I am happy to say that this combo in my XX-T works great! Running it on a cheap 2400mAh stick pack (well abused) I get about 5 min. running through mostly grass and the motor and esc temps are 100 deg. and the cheapo battery is 150 deg. (HOT!). I am sure the battery temps will drop with some good cells or lipos. I don't know the speed of if yet but my gearing is 22/88 and the trans has a ratio of 2.61:1 running the stock Lost 2.2 pin tires.

Cool! you found a a cheap setup!

you would be amazed what power it will deliver if you get a decent fresh pack of batteries.

Enjoy the ride.. :p
