My overview of the Mamba Max 5700

Hi guys, been a while since i posted, but i decided to post on my opinions of the Mamba Max 5700 i had since early mid august.

So far i haven't had any troubles with it other than esc batteries and motor are in the 150 to 160 range(hotter than anything i ever had, except nitro's) currently running 16/87 in t4, but never in the danger zone so not really worried .

The power is almost unbelievable from 6 cells (lipo are a no-no on my track) If i didn't see it run i would have not believe it. On my track we got a lot of grass in a couple sections and it usually wheelies out of those corners (not even the nitro's will do that:cool: ).

As much as i love the power i love the programming, I had troubles using the novak setup, but with the computer its a breeze. I'm still looking for a good setup for my track, it's got too much, but nice to be able to program 5 minutes befor i leave instead of missing the beep or light in program mode :035: .

All in all i would buy it again at twice the price, with all you get for the price you pay its an awsome deal. I'm willing wait for the Monster Max to come out, if the quality that is in the mamba max is in the monster max, I'll be first in line to get one

Thank you Castle Creations for making my first sensorless experience a great one, and look foreward to what comes next.

Have you tried gearing up or down? I actually geared up my B4/4600 and it ran cooler than before. It's possible you are undergeared. Just a thought.

I will be running a T4/5700 in a couple weeks....

Must agree with the performance on 6 cells. You NEED to see it to belive it. For just 6 nimhs it really does run well.

I love my Mamba, the performance is just perfect and you can always program it to exactly what you want from it, which gives alot of flexibility.

My only hope is that the Monster Max is gonna be as good as the Mamba Max with double the capabilities.

I don't doubt that cap.. I am sure they will be unbeatable, and they will be a nightmare for the current producers..

With castlecreations you know their price needs to go down and their service will be top-notch.

True.. I won't miss the overpriced overrated crap that we've had to live with till now. Castle will put a big hurt on them if they don't raise their game.

Hadn't though about gearing up, because both are near the same temp( if motor was higher maybe) but will try a 20 and see if it helps.
Glassdoctor, the t4 handles the power great, no problems with the transmission, but have broke arms and upper links so invest in titanium, just broke a upper link ball yesterday. Its a real nasty combo

Very right.
I saw the schulze 60.12 for more than $260 and I bought a phoenix 60 controller for less than $120, but its not made for cars, though.
The Mamba Max is way more powerful than the U-Force even with half the price.
Surely they're unbeatable.

too bad they want to score with a motor/controller combo. A controller would do, and according to them, the selection of the motor takes so long.

I hope they will be more sensible in kv value with those monster.. the 7700 kind of surprised me.

I'm actually a little dissapointed in my Mamba Max. Although it might just be my setup. I'm running the 5700 in a Lightning Stadium 10 which is a little heavier than many 1/10 scale vehicles. And it's 4wd. My problem is the heat build up.

I have (2) 3100 mah Polyquest 3c lipos in parallel to give me 6200 mah, and I'm running a 13 tooth pinion. Timing advance is on lowest and I have a fan on the motor and esc. I raced for the first time this weekend and it shut down from heat. I measured it at about 185 (esc). They say it's safe up to around 200, but I don't like it. I ordered a 12 tooth pinion, but I'm not convinced it will make a huge difference.

I think I might go to a Neu motor that runs more efficiently. I don't know - anyone have any ideas or help for me. I'm a little bummed.

Serum 09.25.2006 02:05 PM

I would personally have taken a lighter version than the 5700.

Sower 09.25.2006 02:07 PM

You think I should have gotten the 4600? Do you think the 12 tooth pinion will help much?

Serum 09.25.2006 02:08 PM

What is your exact gearing ratio and wheel diameter?

Sower 09.25.2006 02:12 PM

Oh crap, you must be an engineer! I'm totally unprepared for that. Um, lets see . . . the last time I was looking for tires I'm pretty sure my wheel diameter was 4.75". Oh, and the spur gear is 54 tooth. Does that help?

crazyjr 09.25.2006 02:23 PM

While it may work on an nitro conversion (HPI) I wouldn't recomend it for anything over 5 -6 pounds because its more designed for mainstream electrics (the MT is a little heavy) the esc would work but i think the motors are a little high kv for the application. if i were going to do one i'd go with a motor in the 3500kv range, maybe lower
