16.9v EVX

First of all should I get GP4300 or IB4200 7 cell pack? Will the fry my EVX? Ill be running deans.

No, 14 cells shouldn't fry it. I would NOT get GP4300's. Get the IB's. Make sure there SHV version though...

No, 7-cells won't fry it. I've heard of people getting away with many more than 14 cells, though I don't recommend it by any means. I ran 7-cell matched packs through my evx for 3 years without a hitch, it can handle it just fine.

17.78 volts on the EVX?

Since Max Amps updated There GP4300 and IB4200 they make alot more voltage. The GP4300 are 1.26v that=17.64 volts, and the IB4200 are 1.27v that=17.78 volts. Will this burn up my EVX? Cause my dad wont be happy if that happens!

mwe-maxxowner 10.15.2006 05:33 PM

No, the evx can handle that. Anyway, if you do exceed the voltage it decides it can handle, the voltage cutoff is supposed to just shut it down.

squeeforever 10.15.2006 06:19 PM

E-Maxx King-Please don't start another thread asking the same thing except there is a .88 volt difference. Its kinda pointless. An extra .88 volts will HARDLY be enough to fry a controller...

E-Maxx King 10.16.2006 11:27 PM

Sorry, are you guys sure that it can handle GP4300? 18 volts!

mwe-maxxowner 10.16.2006 11:41 PM

Yes, it will be fine. If not, it'll simply not operate correctly for a minute or so because of the high voltage cutoff being activated until the voltage drops to an acceptable amount. But no 7-cell packs are gonna harm the evx.

E-Maxx King 10.16.2006 11:58 PM

Its going to harm it?

mwe-maxxowner 10.17.2006 12:01 AM

No no no!!! lol, I've said so already, the evx can handle that no sweat. The high voltage cutoff being activated doesn't hurt the evx, you just get erratic operation for a bit. This cutoff is activated long before the voltage reaches harmful levels.

So with a peak charge it wont work for a second?

E-Maxx King 10.17.2006 12:14 AM

Also Will the DuraTrax Intellipeak Chrage them? Locked 3.5 amps.

Not necessarily. I'm sayin' that it may not, depending on exactly the voltage your packs produce, and exactly the voltage cutoff on the evx. Not many evx's do this, they are all a little bit different. Don't worry, just charge your packs and run them. You will not hurt your evx. Period!

yes, that will charge them. The DuraTrax charger is a great charger.
