MM or 125B?
Hey guys. Im gonna be converting a hot bodies LSP R. Gonna be using a lehner 1950 7t, 14 cells and UBEC. I will start another thread with pics on build up and such once the truggy comes in. :004:
What do you think would run better on 14 cells? Im leaning towards the MM because of tuning and price. But the quark wont be near its limits - 14 cells is already over the MM's limit. I also have a couple of questions; -Q1 : How do i disable the MM bec to enable the UBEC? -Q2 : The kyosho gear mike stocks will fit the center diff, right? -Q3 : What gearing should i run considering they are HB pro diffs. (46T gear on center diff) Thanks guys. Should be a great christmas project :) |
Depends on the price and if you think you'll upgrade to more cells later. As you said, the MM is already at its official limit, but the price is right.
To disable the built-in BEC, either remove the red wire in the throttle cable or get a short servo extension with the red wire removed (this makes it so you don't have to fiddle with the ESC wires). I'm sure others will answer Q2 and Q3. |

-A1 : look at the wire on the esc that goes to the reciever (can't remember the name) and pull out the red wire -A2 : yes, the kyosho gear will fit -A3 : I am going to run 12/46 or 14/46 hope this helps Bye:018: |
Thanks guys. So i pull out the red wire that goes to the receiver which is the one with the brown, orange, and red wires right?
|
Yep :).
I would recommend the MM. Castle says that a UBEC and 14 cells are fine. In case you didn't know, you disable the BEC on all BEC-equipped controllers by removing the red wire from the receiver connector.. |
You learn somthing new every day :) I was just wondering since in the warrior there is a red [tab]. I guess that disables the current going to the red wire instead of completely taking it off? Oh well, ill just probably snip the read wire in front of the connector and be done with it. Thanks again. Hoping this truggy is better than the revo - handling wise, hoping its as good in durability. **Edit: Do you think it will run cool enough to not need a fan? If it needs one that not a problem, but thought it would need a little extra cooling since its past its limits.

In case you didn't know, you can pull the red wire out of the plug by lifting the little tab on the plug that holds the little metal connector in place. Hard to explain, but it is very easy to pull out. Then just fold it up and tape it off. That way if you every need it in the future it is easy to get back. If you snip it then it's harder to get back.

Thanks - i always wondered what that tab was there for ..... LOL
|
IIRC, it's the black jumper that disables the BEC. The red one is for programming.
If you don't feel like messing with the red wire at all, just use a short servo extension with the red wire removed. That way, no modifications are necessary to the stock throttle cable. Another reason to go with the Quark (depsite the cooling and 6s issues) is that the MM has been giving some people odd cogging problems. You can read this thread for details on that. |
So wait, im confused, if im just wanting to simply disable the MM BEC, so i can use a UBEC, what wire do i need to take out . the red or black? BTW, im gonna run Forward only with brake.
|
Lol, sorry! When you said red "tab", I assumed you were talking about the BK Warrior ESC. :dft001: :005:
You remove the red wire, which is the center wire in the connector. |
lol! Its alright, i know that the black tab is to disaible bec and red is to program :p Red wire it is. thanks.
