1/10th 4wd buggy ??
 

I am looking at either a Losi XXX4 or Kyosho ZX-5 for running around the house and maybe a little track time. I would like to be able to mount some 2.2 truck tires to get around the yard better. Can I use stock wheels? I don't know much about the 1/10 buggy's.

...for what its worth i put HPI 2.2 'truck' rims and tires on my Dark Impact...I loved it...I think the ZX-5 is a 'regular' 12mm hub...not sure about the Losi as we cant get them here but i thought all Losi were pins instead of hexes ? Isnt that whyProline has more 'pinned' rims than hubs? Especially for the smaller scales (1:10 et al) Sorry if this isnt what you needed...

I agree with the Dark Impact. It does use a 12mm hex and a 5mm axle (4mm threads), which will allow the use of many 2.2 wheels. The only problem with the Dark Impact is parts availability (in stores), but online parts are readily available and upgrades are cheap. It's also a durable buggy.

...Ill sell ya mine with a MM 5700 in it :D The HPI rims and tires too if you want them :D And just hit me up for spares and JDm hop-ups ;) THATS what i do ;)

I put Proline 2.2 All Purpose Truck wheels on my ZX-5. It uses 12mm hexes
so I bought the Traxxas adapters, but had to buy two sets and only use the
two rear adapters from each package. I did have to grind 1mm off the rear of
each adapter because the hex recess was too deep and the adapter rubbed on the buggies hub. This did give me the ground clearance and traction I needed for running on my backyard track. I did gear down for the taller tires.

The only one I have experience with is the Losi XXX-4 G+. Great buggy, but you're limited on the front tires. The front have hexes and the rear are pins. The best tires I had on mine were the Pro Line Dirt Hawgs. That made the front tires pretty big actually.

With my Neu 1105 motor in it, that thing flew! Check the pics. It was a little dirty, but you can see what the tires are like.

"Bithead" that's almost exactly what I was looking to do on one. The 2.2 truck tires will give enough ground clearance for bashing.

I also have a Mamba Max 5700 and 3S Lipo to run in it. I tried the combo on a B4 but it was just way too much power.

...I have an adaptor on the DI that lets you run a 'normal' 48 pitch spur...

i could be wrong but is that a quark 33a it bearly looks like it (if it is how does that handle that big of a motor) otherwise i was looking at buying one of those i always loved they way they looked. How does it perform. handle bads and goods you know me before i buy i want to know all types of info. Aslo got a vid. (-its one of those in the back of my head kind of projects it might happen but later on if even)

Yeah, that's a Quark 33. It works fine with the motor really. I don't have it anymore, but I owned that thing for a while. Just found out I bought that XXX4 from jhautz! Funny, eh? Then I put that power system in it.

The good side of doing that system was that it was silly fast. Fastest thing I've ever driven. You know, one of those that makes you think it's too much power? Very rare. Anyway, the bad side was that it was almost too light. I used a 2100 mah 3 cell lipo, that smaller motor, and the Quark 33. The thing was about a pound lighter than the typical setup. That meant it would get thrown around on a bumpy track a bit. Otherwise it was awesome.

My brother in law runs his with a Mamba 25 actually. He took the shrink wrap off and has a fan on it in a certain way that it keeps totally cool. Actually cooler than my Quark was.

I would say that setup could easily do 60mph. I'm serious, it was silly. Totally laughable when you drive it, you know? Anyway, hope that helps. Sorry, no vids. I spend too much money on RC to buy a camera. :027:

how does the quark 33a handle that its made for 1/18 scale cars. Also what motor is that.

Basically it means that the motor doesn't even get warm. It's a Neu 1105 1.5y (6800kv) and it could take more power than this system could dish out.

You're right that the Quark 33 is for 1/18th scale, but it all comes down to the battery. If the battery is only going to push out 30 amps, then you're cool. Here's a chart with the specs on the motor:
