That's pretty cool dude! Good price, and, if you find you don't like the green, take some "easy off" oven cleaner to it and shine them up!

greathobbies.com

It's in the Blue Dot sale, so everything with a blue dot will be discontinued.

However this is a Canadian site/company, so you can decide whether it's worth it ordering from them.

Newuser, so does that easy-off disolve anodizing? Do you just soak the part in it? Also, will it keep the aluminum surface underneith the anodizing intact?

Thanks

yes, that is correct. The easy off will just remove the coating.

there is a cleaner called greased lightning that may take longer but doesn't harm if left too long in the stuff

I have used Greased Lightning before and can say that it really does take off the anodizing with no adverse effects. If you do leave the the aluminum in the greased lightning for an extended period of time, it will develop a black-ish residue on the parts that will polish off.

I use caustic soda. Works like a charm.. takes about 3 seconds to get the job done. With 7075 you need to pollish, because it will turn out black.

Nice buy!

I used Easy-Off over cleaner on my Revo chassis and it worked fine. Just spray it on and rinse it off after about 3-4 minutes. Then spray/wait/rinse again to get anything that was missed. Depending on the alloy, the it might be all blotchy after - just use some steel wool or something and it will clean right up.

I would recommend doing this outside so any overspray doesn't hurt anything and for the fumes.

Yes, with removing anodize (especially with caustic soda) the fumes are a killer.

Leave it in too long and the black residue is a nightmare to get off. Watch carefully and test to see if it comes off. Do one or perhaps 2 pieces at a time. Wear gloves & eye protection. Do it in a ventilated area!
