good emaxx diff options?????
 

:032: iwas looking at some diff options around the internet this morning and was wondering if the diff spool would be a good. wondering does the tmaxx diff spool fit in the emaxx diff????? any ideas of what i could run in my emaxx????:032: :018: :eek: :027: :rolleyes:

The spool works in both the T-maxx and the E both are the same. The spool can only be used in the rear diff (unless your doing mud bogs then front is ok too).

Base upgrade would include aluminum diff cases (Great Assembly RC or similar) and aluminum diff cups (Fastlane Machine, Kippster, Maxximizer).

If you can afford it the Robinson Racin Diff Gears are nice to have too.

The next step up involved moving to an 1/8 scale buggy diff. Buy the Unlimited Engineering Ultralite diff set-up with the 6-spider or 8-spider diffs (8's are stronger yet) or the Fastlane machine "combo diff/bulk" for 1/8 scale diffs.

If money is no object buy the Unlimited VBS system w/8-spider diffs. Strongest combo on the planet.


BTW, I use the FLM cups, FLM gears, GA cases in my truck. No use on it yet so I can't tell you how much abuse it will or won't take.

I would personaly stay away from the spool. I had put them in a couple of my Maxx's and didn't like it. It makes the truck want to slide out too easy in the dirt and wouldn't track straight when I was doing some high speed runs. I think they are good if you plan on doing rock crawling or like Procharged said, if you are going to the mud bogs.

As far as the diffs go, call me lucky but all I have in my Dual BL Maxx is the Maximizer diff cups and the FLM Combo Bulks. Knock on wood, so far so good.

Yeah, i am using integy aluminum diffhousings and Maxximizer 7075 cups, and they are a good combination. I am not surprised the diffs handle a dual setup. Some maintenance is required every now and then (check the bearings, adjust the gearmesh, relube with fresh lube. But all and all, i am not disappointed in the stock gears at all. Too bad you can't run silicone oil in them..

BTW a spool is a nono. On high speeds the truck will be far from stable.

If you got to buy the aluminum housing and diff cups.
You could just go with the 1/8 diffs and have less worries.
The spool is hard on stuff as well. It is great for bashing at slow speeds.

HB diffs is another solution...still need the cases though. Combo or hybrids are great.

Is there any dissadvantage to going with 8th scale difs?

a little more pricy and i am not sure but becasue the are bigger moe weight. also bigger ratio means about 7mph less speed in a maxx.

So just price. Bigger ratio sounds like a good thing to me. Easier to gear up then down.

PUt a bigger pinion on the motor for the same final drive ratio and you have same
speed capabilities.
