Big Tires?
 

Hi all!

Just had a question for you. I want big beefy tires for my brushless e-maxx. People keep trying to disuade me telling me they put too much stress on your truck. So what's the scoop? Can I run large tires? I don't want to run Jumbo Kongs (thought, I DID want to) but something larger then stock would be nice.

So what's the deal? Are large tires really as taboo as they seem? What mods would I need to get the most out of large tires?

I've built my truck to be a bashing beast and it just seems to me, from a strictly physics standpoint, that large tires would bash better then tiny tires. (more rubber to absorb impact, raises the CoG to give you more shock travel, etc)

Make sure you have a serious steering servo! 200 oz-in minimum.

I have a set of IMEX Jumbo Claw Dawgs but have not used them yet. Same dia. as Revo and new maxx tires (6") but just over 4" wide.

I was going to get the $115 Hitec from Mike - that's pretty much the best, most commonly used servo isnt it?

The 5998 produces 250 OZ-IN and was designed for monster trucks. It should do a good job. My hitec is the previous version and has been great.

I might be missing something but the 5955 that Mike sells is 333oz. That's better then the 5998 isn't it?

No question. More torque is better. The 5955 would be great!

I ran big joes for while. It does add more stress to driveline.
It depends on the system you are running as well.
You seem to have most of the goodies needed.
The hitec 5995 servo is great to make them turn.
You just need a good servo saver like ue to go with it.
