confused about motor mount spacing??

hey guys.......I have a mugen adapter i bought about a year ago , looks just like the ones Griffin is using here >>> http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/show...brushless+mbx5

Ok......i looked up the dimensions on some NEU motors (1515's) and the can size of the motor is that same size as a 540 sized motor........right? 36mm.

I have an older novak 5800 se motor 9which i beleive is a 540 size also , and it bolts right up to the motor mount , except the shaft would be to short to run on this mount , besdies being way to gutless to push an 1/8th scale buggy around.

My question is..........if the NEU motors have the same sized can , does that make it a 540 size? and are the bolt patterns the same , so a NEU motor would fit in this brace?

Yes, the NEU uses normal 540 bolt sized patterns..

It is considered a 540.. I think the XL's and lehner 1940/50 are considered 550.

Oh man..this is friggin' awesome!! i guess my brace will work then!! WWOOOooooHHooOooOo!! Now all i have to do is figure out which NUE motor to get. I understand I need a 1515 size , but don't quite understand the number's and letters afterwards. If i was looking for a good tourqe 1515 (running it on 4S or 5S that would get me upwards of about 45mph + for racing ..........which one would you go for? BTW....it's for an 1/8th scale Mugen or kyosho.

For 4S id get the 1515 1.5d/F, on 5S id get the 1515 2.5d/F , Someone correct me if im wrong, as i dont know the "sweet spot" of the neu motors.
