Air Hogs boat/plane thingy LiPo question.

I had a spare LiPo battery laying around from a little helicopter that I have. It is a 2s 600mah. I decided to use this batt on my Air Hog Storm Launcher as a spare. Now if you havn't seen the 2s that comes with the Air Hogs here is a pic bellow. You must insert the pack onto the pos. & neg. poles. So with the spare LiPo that I have, I installed a pair of 4.5mm female gold connectors on to it to slide over the pos. & neg. poles. See pic below. (sory for the blury-ness)

Once connected and powered up, everything is working fine (elevator and motors) until after I release the throttle after the first time. When I try to accelerate again, it goes into a cutoff mode or something, all power is gone until I unplug and plug in again then the same cycle happens again. I don't think it has anything to do with connection because I have to use just a little bit of force to get the gold plugs slide on.

Could it be because the mah is not the same? The Air Hog is 740mah and my spare is 600mah.
Thanks.

As doubtful as this sounds, it may be that something is getting triggered causing it to shut down because it thinks the pack is depleted?

Less mah most likely means less current capabilites, which means excessive voltage drop under load...

To me it sounds like your 600mah pack can't handle the current that the Air Hogs pack can. Just a thought, the 740mah could be 20C (14.8amps) and the 600mah could be 10C (6amps), so the 600mah wouldn't be suitable to the application. This is just an example, I don't know how it actually is.

Thanks guys. Makes sence. I was just in hopes that it would work cause it was a spare and to buy an Air Hogs replacement is about $30. Oh well.

Where do you get those Airhog mini planes from? They look really good fun but not available in the UK.

Sorry to go off-topic. :P

No worries Nick. Just about every big store over here has them. But if I were you, I would check ebay, there are quite a few on there. Just make sure the auction says that it includes the battery and charger because at the store they sell both, with batt/charger and without.

Maybe www.wal-mart.com has them.
