Best Neu 1515 for G2R
 

Whats the best 1515 motor for my application

Carbon fiber G2r
single speed conversion. (slipperential when released)
Quark 125 pro
8000- 10000 mah lipo (4s maybe 5s sown the road)


This is mainly a race truck. Some bashing. Tracks are mostly tight turns with big jumps, banked corners, pretty harsh. Not blue groove. I dont need tons of speed but really need to get outta corners fast. 35mph top with a 16/51 was my plan. I wanna stay with Neu motors.

Trying to decide on Which one. Whats the best wind and KV for me. Opinions please

for 4s or 5s I say the 1y version with 2200 kv

The 1y has a decent kv rating (2200) given the battery used, desired speed, gearing, and weight of the vehicle. Plus, since you said you'll be getting the slipperential, you'll want a little faster motor like this.

Check Brians speed calculator, this helps you what neu to take.

you pick the gears with the right motor, not the other way around.

so there should be no difference between the three 1515 motors except for rpm. am i understanding that right. it seems like the different winds should produce different torque and powerbands like round and flatwire do ith brushed motors.

With these motors it's mostly about hitting a sweet spot by finding the gearing that works for you. It's not as critical as you may think to find the "one" motor that will work. And everybody has their own idea of what "works".

As for the 1515... and 4s/5s... anything in the 2000kv range imo will do very well. Mike ran a 2200kv on 4s his emaxx with slipperential. He geared for about 30mph and had awesome results on the track. So you can't go wrong with that.

I tend to go for the lower kv range and gear up to get the speed I need. This way I have more flexibility to run higher voltage in the future too. (MMM) :)

It's not like you can look at two motors with a 10% or even 20% difference in KV and buy the "right" or "wrong" one. It doesn't matter as much as you imagine. You can work with the gearing to make up the difference between the motors. Of course there are limits....

You don't do that with racing brushed mods... you tend to change winds rather than do much with gearing. And with brushed it's often about getting the right feel or powerband... as much as it is about speed. Brushless hasn't been fine tuned to this degree yet.... it's just about raw horsepower and getting it to work, period. Sorta :)

OK. I get it. I just wanted to make sure that i don't spend $300 on the wrong one for my application. I figured the torque would be enough from any of the 1515 but I just wanted to make sure.

Yep, I think you are right. There is enough torque to do just about anything you want with them, within the limits of your gearing options. If you get too far away from the sweetspot then motor/esc heat can be a problem.

But that's why God created 40mm fans, hee hee.
