mf2 or rusty?

i can get my hand on a mf2 with a bunch of tires for 175 with no electronics or anything. but i have all that stuff from my rusty to put on. would this be a big improvement from my rusty? it has some decent upgrades
(rpm arms, carriers, steel yokes, alum idler and i got a lot of tires and rims for it...) but the guys at the track say the mf2 would be a MASS improvement over the rusty. i either buy this mf2 or new batts for my rusty... so which one should i do!!

lmk

I would stick with the Rusty...The MF2 isn't durable at all...You would be breaking stuff left and right. The Rusty, with the right setup, will be a decent racer. What motor/esc do you run in it right now?

i hate that... the other guy said his is way more durable and its the perfect racer truck. he said i would see a HUGE difference with this truck. maybe he was just trying to sell me something but that doesnt sound like him

i have the mm 5700. on the track i dont really like the speeds i get... could get a little faster and that is why im going to be ordering the a123s soon i believe.

after about half way trhough the track (furthest distance from where im standing when racing) my truck kinda runs unclean.. like im too far away. i have the jrsx remote for my revo but use the stock trx3 for my rusty. if i bought the jrsx receiver for my rusty should that help out the range?

thanks

The operative word for the XXX-T is racer, Losi is a pure racer. Its not that its fragile , its that its a racer and its not up to hard bashing. At our track there are a few who have XXX-T MF2's and with ss5800's they were rebuilding trannies every 5th race, I have a T4 that has never been rebuilt or adjusted in the year i have had it.

What gearing and what truck have you got the 5700 in?

Yes the reciever will help, If you have an old dial type radio, set it to AM and sweep the stations and listen to the noises and whistles, thats interference. Going to FM will eliminate most of that noise, going to spread spectrum or nomadio will be better, but yes the reciever will help

kk cool thx crazyjr

ya i like bashing more than racing actually... my gearing is 87/16 i beleive.

crazyjr 01.15.2007 03:01 AM

If thats in a rustler, you may be undergeared. The rustler has a 2.72 transmission ratio, where the T4 is 2.60. I think if you put a 20 tooth pinion on it, it will wake up. If its running hot you might lose a little heat as well. In my T4, it would run 164 motor and 163 ESC on avarage with a 14 84 gearing, Going to an 18 it droped a little heat.

t-maxxracer32 01.15.2007 03:03 AM

o cool. i wouldnt mind more speed!

crazyjr 01.15.2007 03:05 AM

The higher you go, the wilder it gets

t-maxxracer32 01.15.2007 03:11 AM

i still dont really understand how gearing works. what makes it go fasteR? and what is more acc and all that

hyperasus 01.15.2007 05:48 AM

I have both the XXX-T brushless and a few rustys(including an all aluminum FLM rusty). The losi is fun when its tuned right......WHEN ITS TUNED RIGHT. But it is such a bugger to get it just right. Everything has to be perfect, and the slipper and diff are always changing as you drive it so it is a constant battle. I've come to love, hate, love and now hate again my xxx-t. It's just too dam picky and fragile. The dif is a nightmare so I can't put any real power to it. I am thinking about just selling both of my xxx-t's to some Losi fanboy on ebay.

lol man iom glad this forum is here. i was going to waste 175 on a POS!!

thanks alot guys!

The MF2 is arguably the best racing platform out there. The Rusty is a great muli-purpose machine but not as capable of a racer.

A well built & tuned MF2 is fast and durable on the track. I would never use one as a basher however.

t-maxxracer32 01.15.2007 11:33 AM

ya bashing is what im all about! jumped the rusty off a 30 foot cliff yesterday and NOTHING brokeeeee wahooo!! going for round 2 today with the revo!

Procharged5.0 01.15.2007 11:37 AM

Then go Rusty, use the parts you have to hop it up, and buy more from FLM to finish it off!

BTW, who's the hottie in the avatar?

t-maxxracer32 01.15.2007 11:42 AM

lol my g/f (thanks!)

ya i was thinking of buying some flm parts to make it look flashy and have it be able to bash hardcore!! also racing at the track is fun.. theres no way around bashing!!! its the best!!
