New To Electric

Im a beginner in this whole BL thing so Im looking for some suggestions. Here is what I have planned for my project maxx. All I do right now is bash. I plan on running on 14 cells(dont know what kind yet). I am stationed in Germany so I dont have access to a lhs so this is my only source of help. Let me know what ya think, or what else I will need. THX.
-warrior 9920
-feigao 8L
-FLM hybrid bulks (what diffs to use?)
-Strobe slipper
-RPM 3.3 A-arms, towers, and knuckles
-Traxxas 3.3 driveshafts
-Sektrum dx3

hello, welcome to the forum.
for a e-maxx i'd say a xl motor is better.
use hotbodies diffs with the hybrid bulks.
normally people use the normal set, not the pro set.
as normal is 3.31/1 and pro is 4.3/1 ratio.

Hi Sapper! welcome to the forum;

your list looks okay, exept for a few things.. For 14 cells, the motor i would pick would either be a 7 or an 8XL, that 8L is way too hot.. The 9L on 12 cells is already a 'hot' setup.

The FLM hybrid bulks come in two sorts; one for the stock gears, and one for 1/8th diffs. Mike has got the Hotbodies 1/8th diffs in stock for the 1/8th bulkless conversion.

Other than that, it's one fine list you've got there.

I would suggest to read this;

Thanks for the warm welcomeand the advice on the motors. I was thinking of getting some CVD's but I read somewhere they dont work well with the flex of the RPM arms. Is this true. Also would you suggest a cooling fan and a BEC, if so what should I get?

Serum 01.19.2007 06:54 PM

Yeah, a UBEC or such would be nice.

The 3.3 shafts are pretty tough!

How fast are you looking to go and how much money you talking?
14 cells will break up some stuff if not set up right.
I like the 3.3 stuff as well. I like them more than some cvds accually
Welcome to the forum to.

Yes most here would say this is true some here have reported there cvds poping out while using rpm arms and bending the cvds. The 3.3 sliders should do you they are also cheaper those are the way to go

Im not too concerned about speed at the moment, I just want it to beat a BL Savage X with a 7XL. I would like run time with good reliability. It may also have to halde the sand and heat in Iraq. Looking to spend somewhere between $700-$800.

You want to beat a BL savage with a 7XL? how many cells is he tossing around? and has het got the 2speed transmission?

sapper_triple6 01.20.2007 11:06 AM

once it is built he will be running 12 cells, quark monster pro, 7XL, and stock 2spd tranny

Serum 01.20.2007 11:16 AM

Dead simple; throw in a 7XL on 14 cells. Difference is HUGE.. or an 8XL on 16..

sapper_triple6 01.20.2007 11:22 AM

thats good to know. Ihave been smoking him all year with my revo 3.3, so I cant lose now

Serum 01.20.2007 11:24 AM

If you use good cells, you can't go wrong..

sapper_triple6 01.20.2007 11:28 AM

i ordered 14 elite 3600's and he will be running tenergy 3300's
