Mamba Max no glitchy?

I wanted to put up a quick thread to say that I raced with a MM 5700 system last weekend and it was flawless.

I didn't see any funky glitches and it ran smooth... no issues at all.

This was a fresh brand new esc... in my T4 with the same 5700 motor that was used previously.

Actually I didn't run the truck, but my buddy did who is an awesome racer... one of those local guys who can compete on a regional or even national level. He looks like he belongs with the factory rides.

Anyway, I have had some minor issues. So I thought is was only fair to report this time it was all good.

I was running my LRP in my buggy... I had zero issues with it also as usual. ;)

Oh... I will have to run this truck some more and see if it continues to be good news.

Now all we need is a fix for the Neu cogging!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and I won't have anything to bust CC chops about. :005:

Cool, since it was just you and a couple others, I thought it might be a fluke. I still have had no issues like you described and i got one of the first ones. Either way i'm glad you got a good one

glassdoctor 01.29.2007 04:00 PM

Well.. I'm not sure about a fluke... I have seen it on no less than 5 different systems/vehicles. But they were all purchased about the same time.

I sure hope this one I just ran proves to be the one that won't do it.

I need to get on the horn with CC and ask if there have been ANY changes at all. I knwo this one was from a different production run than all the others I have had.

glassdoctor 01.29.2007 04:24 PM

Ok... I just got off the phone w/CC... they said the hardware has not changed since the first run.

But the firmware has changed. I will go back and check what versions are on my controllers.... I'm hoping this latest one has a different version than the glitchy ones.

Oh... and they wouldn't say when, but the new update that will make the MM work with Neus will be out soon.

Man, release dates would be nice! LOL

crazyjr 01.29.2007 05:51 PM

I stand corrected, I thought it was just yours and a few others here, as i have said, i never had any troubles

glassdoctor 01.29.2007 06:12 PM

Well.. you are right... my buddy and I may be the only ones reporting this problem. What I meant was that WE had it happen with many different systems... multiple vehicles, MM systems, radios, servos, etc etc

Hey, Doc, aside from the Mamba Max, how much do you like the LRP brushless system?

Have you tried the Vector 11T motor, too?

glassdoctor 01.29.2007 11:56 PM

MM note:

One thing that was different this time around with teh MM was that we ran less drag brake than I used to... 10-15% instead of 25-35%. So that may be part of why we didn't see the glitch thing... we have wondered if the brake settings may have some impact on the issue.

LRP:

Last weekend my buggy Mack that ran my T4 also had the new 2007 version LRP Comp with the new LRP 6.5 motor. The motor was very nice... had a little more "snort" esp in the middle of the poweband than the 2 star.

The new speedo has more drag brake built in so that's good if you like drag. But Mack didn't like it cause it still had a little drag even when set to 0... not what he likes.

I like running some drag brake so I thought it was ok. In fact, I the only thing I didn't like when I went to the LRP was the lack of drag brake. I found that the more you gear it down the more drag brake you get. So now it's ok... I was trying to gear it a bit higher at first.

Most of my local buddies, and guys we know at other tracks around, are running LRP Sphere Comps and 2/3 star motors and are loving them. Very smooth and fast. There was one case where the rotor slipped on the shaft and slammed through the endbell and gear cover. :)

So far everyone thinks they are great... some don't even run the heat sink.

captain harlock 01.30.2007 01:48 AM

Well, that is nice to hear. LRP must come up with a sensorless system ASAP.
