Lehner 1920...worth the money?
Hey I'm a poet and didn't know it (oops I did it again).
Anyway, I've been running a Mamba max 4600 system in my HPI MT2. I have been thinking about getting a Lehner 1920 to run with the Mamba ESC. Using BrianG's calculator as well as the calculator on lehners web site, I come up with the 1920-7 being the motor to get. Truck is a little over 5 pounds geared as low as easily available gears will go; 52 spur, 12 pinion. I run Apogee 3s 3800 limn batteries. I know most people say to stay under 40,000 rpm, my 4600 does around 50,000 and a 1920-7 would be a bit under that. I really like the speed of the truck as it is and may want a little more speed in the future (I also have 5700 motor). Should I go for a bit lower kv 1920 motor and try to gear it up to get the speed back (and more)? Or would a higher kv Lehner do better? Looking at the Lehner website, they say the rpm limit is 85,000 rpm. Also, would I see longer run times with a comparable 1920 compared to the Mamba motors? Will I notice any difference with the Lehner over a Mamba motor, or should I just keep running the Mambas and be happy? I do like the purple and black color to match the truck though, lol. |
The 1920 has more torque and a larger diameter rotor.
There's a possibility that the 1920 would last longer in terms of run time and probably stay cooler and be faster than the Mamba Max motor. My opinion is that the 1920 is worth every single pinny. |
The 1920 does have the 4mm shaft correct? That would also give me a few more readily available gearing options over the 1/8th shaft Mambas.

Acutally, mike stocks the 1/8 shafts so youd have to ask if he has 4mm.

good motor.
