Disaster!!!!!

Took the Maxx racing today.
I was happily embarrassing the Nitro Sav's and Maxx's when the motor shaft snapped on my Hacker C50 (to the amusement of the noisy brigade):o :D

well I must admit I didn't see that one coming, does this happen a lot or am I just unlucky.
More importantly, can I fix it, or is it now scrap?

Serum 05.08.2005 03:59 PM

That is not the first known story of a snapped of shaft.. (sh)it happens..

You can buy a new rotor for your Hacker.

Perhaps it's also an option to buy a new Feigao motor (would be only about 20-30 dollars more expensive) and take one with a 5mm shaft..

Snapped shafts happen from time to time, especially with a high torque motor and a heavy truck with a 1/8" shaft. You are also probably a bit unlucky! :)
To minimize this issue, make sure the pinion is as close to the motor can as possible when you mount it up. To eliminate the problem, run a 5mm shaft (although I have never heard of a lehner shaft breaking - they are hardened 1/8").

Sorry to hear that cabking, i was under the impression you ran a hacker 8L or XL?
or is this a second motor?

cabking 05.09.2005 03:10 PM

Thanks for the replys guys

Serum , It does happen, you are right.....but why does it always happen to me :)
Thats what I wanted to hear about a new rotor.

Mike , I'm gonna take Serum's advise,
I think the 9L would be the one to go for as I run 12 cells at the moment but I could add cells if I need it, I will be running a 51 tooth spur, with UE diffs, what pinion/s do you suggest for racing?

Smurfy , Ive only ever had this one mate:W:

RC-Monster Mike 05.09.2005 03:22 PM

I would go with the 16 or 18 pinion for 12 cells and the 15 or 16 for 14 cells.

I apoligise cabking:)
iv mixed you and MatB80 up

cabking 05.09.2005 04:58 PM

No worrys Smurfy, happens to me all the time. :C:

well Ive just ordered a 9L and a few other bits from Mike:D

Does anyone Know if Hacker will deal with me direct, or do I have to find a dealer?? I got the C50 second hand from ebay

luihed 05.09.2005 09:05 PM

Ive broken a c50 ( maxx ) shaft too last year and I bought one directly from Hacker... if i remember correctly it was around $55 for the part alone, you can send it in and they will replace it for you but Im not sure how much that will cost..... youre doing the right thing buying a 9L from Mike instead.....

supermaxx4190 05.09.2005 09:39 PM

mike, wouldnt 18 be a little high with a 51 spur, i am going to run about 12/51 on my truck on 16 cells.

RC-Monster Mike 05.09.2005 10:23 PM

It depends on the track. the 18 will be fine on a long flowing track, while the 16 would be better for a tighter track. 16 cells is a bit different than 12 cells, remember!
