9920 Lipo Ready.

Dear All,
I bought a 9920, it said that it's Lipo ready. Actually I didn't start it up. Just want to clear something before I use it.
1.How can the ESC know how many cells Lipo I use?
2.Will it auto cut off before I over discharge the My Lipo?
Thanks in advance

it has no cut-off built-in.
need seperate one.

any esc is lipo ready. the 9920 is no exeption, you do need an LVC though.

Thanks. So what it meant Lipo ready is ....

that you can use lipo batteries with it.

Shouldn't they make one with lvc built in?

when they say lipo ready they probly mean it wont freak out if you use lipo on it.

Sylvester 02.15.2007 11:44 AM

Lipo-ready means they can be used with lipo cells. I dont see why any other controller wouldnt, though! ;)

I think they said it to mislead unkowing buyers so as not to lose sales against LVC equipped controllers, IMO. I was a victum of the same statement on my first purchase. Lipo ready should mean it has a LVC feature. Aside from this, controllers have no idea what is sending them voltage. I compare this practice to the discharge rating scam many Lipo vendors put on us.

I'm not sure if that was meant to scam anyone. It was probably meant more for noobs who think they absolutely NEED a "lipo" ESC. If anything, the description should state "lipo ready, but an external LVC highly recommended".
