StreetMaxx
This is it, the time has come, the evolution of the streetmaxx, just a couple of Q's on this.
1. I will be using a 9918 but need help on the fastest motor, nothing over 14cells. 2. I am using 4 integy msr5 shocks, but this thing is a bit too heavy , will it matter a little of i add the extra 4? 3. I will be getting road rage tires, what would be a better tire for road? The reason i am making this monster into a street monster is beacuase there are less chances of breaking it, and another fact is because my friends all got nitros :) I hope i can kick some butt with BL. Pics will be coming once this monster is fully complete. |
My only worry would be that without a good setup, you may roll the car taking fast turns. A low setup with good shock action and tires should stop this from happening though. Post some pictures please! I think an 8xl would be good from feiago, or a lehner motor. But mike's got all the info.
|
The 8xl isn't being maximized with the low cell count(although it would perform very well just the same). For pure speed on 14 cells, I would think about the xl3600. This would be a rocketship. For tires, you may consider what LiPomaxx is doing - 1/8 buggy tire conversion. This would minimize the rotating mass, resulting in increased aceleration and runtimes. For road running, 4 shocks will be fine. Just use a stiff srping and heavy oil. The panther komodo tires are a nice, small, light tire as well, but they would wear out on the street pretty quickly.

I once saw someone who mounted 1/5th road wheels on his maxx. You need a lathe to make the adaptors, but it sure looked nice!

Thanks for the reply's guys, is the lehner motor faster and more efficeint than the feiago motor? I am going to HAVE to put stiffer springs because my truck doesnt stay up, it just slams the ground. I want to keep the truck light as possible. What gearing would be safe with a lehner on 14 cells? But also to get maxximum top speed>
|
Yes, the Lehner is more efficient that the Feigao. Speed difference would be negligible with optimized gearing.
|
as for your shocks you might want to consider making some solid struts. i had the same problem and simply got some round aluminum stock and cut it to the appropriate length and did a little grinding on the ends and drilled some holes to mount them.
i can honestly say that i NEVER rolled it over. all you have to do is dont make it TO low just 2 inches off the ground will do. |
O.K, im goin to my LHS this saturday, im getting tires, and maybe BL. I am also going to look for stiffer springs to hold up this truck. I have a question, what would be the BEST way to clean aluminum parts ?
|
I use Miracle green water and an air compressor. Then polish them with mothers aluminum polish.

Here is the rear, i am hoping to push this truck over 40mph, what gearing would i need ? ( on a 9l on 14cells)

Here is the positioning of the suspension, i am also going to need a body, what would be the most areodynamic body i can get? Of course not too pricey :P:)

Last pic, i cant wait to get it up and running :)!!!!

looks good are you getting some 3700s? That would help you with run times.
