Brushless Setups?

Can someone recommend a good brushless setup that would work with dual 7.4v 8000 mah MaxAmps Lipo's for under $300? this is going in an E-Maxx btw. Thanks for helping the noob. lol I am looking for something that has a little more power than your average nitro. thanks again I just don't wanna blow $300+ on a brushless system that is over taxed in my E-MaXX, or just plain isn't compatible.

The cheapest is probably going to be a Mamba Max ESC and a BK Wanderer 8XL. You'll need a UBEC too.

However, you're probably going to have heat problems with that ESC unless you use a fan. If that's not an option, then maybe a BK Warrior 9920 with a lipo cutoff. Still need the UBEC too.

EDIT: Oh, and welcome to the forums!

Welcome to the forum Fuzion!

You came to the right place for advice IMO.. read all the positive feedback about the customers of Mike. spending money is one thing, but getting the result you want with your purchase is another bag..

for your 300 dollar budget;

If you want a blast, get a 7XL, runtimes will suffer though.

if you want very decent speed get an 8XL. if you want something that blows away the stock titans, with a very decent runtime; get the 9XL.

With the 8XL/9XL you can set with a MM controller. Good thing is it has got an LVC build in. i would use a 25X25mm fan on the MM to prevent overheating.

Remember; investing money in a setup is going hand in hand with future upgrade of your drivetrain; it is meant for two fair weak motors, and even with this stock setup, the drivetrain gives from time to time.

With both the 9920 or the MM controller, you need an external BEC.

First of All, Thanks for all the Help, you guys are great, just what I needed.

But I did some more research and I realized that for the Kind of Power I need(ok want LOL) i would have to expand my budget. how about this setup?

Motor - Nemisis Blue XLT-1

BK Warrior Speed Control (not sure what model but it costs $230)

Tanic Packs 4S 3700 Lipo

Would it work well and provide nitro beating power? and can someone reccomend a good BEC?

thanks again guys, your all great

Welcome to the forums Fuzion!

I recommend the Mamba Max esc with the Feigao 8XL (C-Series) for the best blend of performance & price.

I strongly recommend that you buy from Mike here at RC Monster. He will treat you right, I can tell you that from recent experience.

That's a fine-design setup. Do a search for finedesign and deside for yourself if you want to buy from him or not. His first contact seems great, but if you have got a problem afterwards, you are on your own.

Here, browse around thru this store;

What kind of speed are you looking for?

glassdoctor 03.08.2007 02:55 AM

I will second that... stay away from finedesign. Trust us... you can do so much better with a little help form the forum here.

Welcome, everything you need is here with extra customer service which comes in handy from time to time. +2 on the FD package. You never know what you are going to get from them. Do a search here on the forums and you'll see why.
Go with the 8xl/MM esc with the ultimate ubec Mike sells. It's a win win for sure. It will definately take care of the nitros for you.

the mamba max can handle 4S lipo? I don't mean to sound doubtful or ungrateful but I really wasn't expecting a 1/10 single motor single battery to handle a feigao (sp?) 8X1 and 14.8 volts.

glassdoctor 03.12.2007 05:22 PM

Believe it or not, the MM does better on 4s lipo and big motor in my 1/8 buggy than it does on 2s with a 7700 in a 1/10 4wd.

Yes, but you have to disable the internal BEC and use a Rx battery pack or UBEC. There are many folks on here who have run the MM with an 8XL on 4S.

Thanks. would this setup give me power similar to the FD setup listed above?
That is the kind of power I want. and how do I disable the bec?

glassdoctor 03.12.2007 07:46 PM

Yes... same type of power.

To disable the bec you simply pull hte red wire from the reciever connector... and use a separate bec or rx pack to power the rx and servo.

skellyo 03.12.2007 08:57 PM

Don't let the FD package fool you. The XLT motor he sells is no more powerful than a Feigao 540 XL, which is what I believe it actually is. The big difference is that the shafts are 1/8" on them....yuck :020:

And just to dispute his specs...
1HP = 746W
How the heck does he say he has a 2.5HP motor that is 1500W? :rolleyes:

IIRC, the Feigao 540 XL motors are 1500W also...big coincidence, huh?

And not to be mean, but if after reading this forum, you still go buy a BL system from him, you should be tarred and feathered :D

On the 4S lipo and MM yes, I have run a 7XL on 5s through a MM, and while i don't tell people to do it, it did survive
