Which Esc & Motor for Brushless Mini-Lst?

Hey, because I'm still waiting Mamba Monster Max for my E-Revo I desided to build Brushless Mini Lst. I bougth from e-Bay full aluminium Mini Lst with CAW extented chassis and 2.2 inch wheels. Diffs are updated with the viscous diff conversion kit, so drivetrain shouln't be the problem... I want to run the truck with 3s Lipo, but I have no idea what motor/esc combo is the best for MLST.

I have one Mamba Sport package in my Minizilla, but I'm not sure I wanna use that in MLST. Maybe dual Mamba? I Rather use only one motor and Esc. I like Castle Creations products and I was wondering is there any real option for motor to run with Mamba esc? Some small Feigao or what? Im afraid that Mamba motor will overheat in MLST? Ok gurus, what your suggestion :)

mamba 25 with a Wraith 7K motor. or a mamba 25 with a 6800 competition motor.

Check b-p-p.com, he has got a movie of a 1/18th LST with the wraith 7K motor

Sweet! I think Wraith 7K is my choise. Thanks Serum! Hmmm dual Mamba/Wraith? :005:

That 7k motor will get hot in a hurry on 3s. 70,000+ rpm is a little much IMO. The Hyperion YC22 5K on 3s is a handfull and more suited to the 3s you stated you were looking to run it with.

7k will be faster for speed runs, but running it for more than a couple minutes at a time its gonna get smokin hot. My 5K gets pretty dang hot in a few minutes on 3s.

Those fluid filled diff are the best thing that ever happened to the MLST, but the note that come with them in the package from Losi says they are ''not for use with motors over 5000kv and voltage over 7.4V'' Not that anyone will listen to that, but they are covering their butts this time after the beating they took from the crappy stock diffs.

Mamba 25 or the Quark 33 pro-car. Either are a fine choice for the ESC.

I've been contemplating stuffing a Mamba Max system (ESC and Motor) into a MLST. I figure a 5700 on 2S will be plenty and will give heaps of runtime and power. Or is this just too much?

jhautz 03.03.2007 05:36 AM

Ummm.... WAY too much!

You will absolutely shred the drivetrian of that poor little truck. I ran locked billet diffs in mine until the steel fluid diffs came out from Losi. Even if the diffs hold up, the next thing to go is the dogbones start twisting into pretzels. Thats with the 26mm motors. I cant imagine what a 36mm motor would do to it.

It would be fun to see though. :)

Yep, I think that Mamba Max is "little" too much. I can go with that if someone do it before me with no problems. :027: I think Mamba 25 is gonna be the esc, but what motor... 3s isn't written in stone ( or how it goes), 2s is also option if that helps keep things smooth and cool. What about Lehner/Feigao/Hacker in MLST, any experienses? Hacker have E-30, but it will run hot also? Lehner 10 serie?

No, i personally have got the wraith 7K on 3S, and it FLIES! the time it's being used on 70K is less than 1 second. by that time the truck is either on it's roof or on the other side of the road.

It's not said the 7K runs 7000 rpm loaded.

Again; wraith 7K is the motor of my choice. it's bigger than the mamba motors and delivers ultimate torque.

Your 5K probably gets hotter, because it's a smaller motor?

jhautz 03.03.2007 02:01 PM

Just throwing in my experiences and opinion. But if you say the Wraith 7K on 3s is all good from experience, then I believe you. I wasn't sure if you were talking from experience or word of mouth on this topic. Didn't know you had minis too. I guess I should have expected it. :010:

The Hyperion YC22 5k is bigger than a mamba motor and generates more torque than a mamba motor for sure. But if you are telling me that the Wraith 7K runs cool (or at least not excessively hot) Thats for sure a better chioce then. My Hyperion YC22 5k gets pretty darn hot on 3s. Definatly not touchable after an entire 2000mah 3s pack. Maybe I need to gear up??? Not sure I never really spent a whole lot of time tuning it. Just kinda threw it in there and ran it. Its a mini...

I may have to consider upgradeing now. But I think I'll see how the new metal, fluid filled diffs hold up to what I have now before I start throwing more power at it.

Serum 03.03.2007 02:20 PM

Yeah, i've seen these diffs! they are a true masterpiece..

i geared mine relative tall..

squeeforever 03.03.2007 02:21 PM

Personally, would go with a Lehner motor and a Quark 33 Pro...Not sure which Lehner, but I would definately go for one. Theres a couple on Ebay right now that might work...

Serum 03.03.2007 02:26 PM

Yeah, for about 2-3 times the price..

the quark sucks in programming.. while the mamba is a dream to program.. Since the wraith 7K is doing 60 mph with ease i truely don't see the need for a lehner..

jhautz 03.03.2007 02:33 PM

I personally dont see the need for even that much speed in a little thing like this. All it makes for is some spactacular crashes. Ive got mine set up for around 40mph and thats PLENTY of speed for me in this little thing. Thats already on the ege of control.

Serum 03.03.2007 03:54 PM

Yeah, couldn't agree more.. 40 mph for a such a tiny thing is more than enough..
