Need a project - Maybe M-LST? (Need opinions)

Well, I'm most likely going to get my 18T sold soon, since its just too small (low) for where I run.

I'm looking for a new project, in which the vehicle will replace the 18T. Of course, I want it brushless. I'm basically looking for an electric I can run when I don't want to run something as large as the G2R and something to run when the G2R is down. I have enough Nitro's (T-Maxx, Revo 2.5R, Jato 2.5), but I only run nitro in large duration, like over an hour, and usually for bashing.

Anyway, I'm looking for a semi-easy build, and hoping to keep it below $600 or so. I already have a radio/receiver for it, so that won't eat up any of the funds. If its a really good project, I may splurge as much as $750 or so, but I think thats the max. Any more than that and my parent's will raise an eyebrow (technically not supposed to spend anymore on R/C, but I get leeway for selling the 18T). I would like 4wd as well.

As of now, I'm looking at the Mini-LST. I have taken pretty detailed looks at them and they look pretty cool. They have pretty good ground clearance so I can get around where I need to. Of course, I would get the standard upgrades like viscous diffs, CF chassis, etc. I was also planning of running 2.2 inch truck wheels and tires (if possible - I think it is). If I was to get this thing, I was planning of putting a LMT 1525/6 in it. I am going to run it off 2S, 5500mah Lipo (the maxamps saddle pack, since it would fit perfectly in the rear with few mods, according to the dimentions). For the ESC, I dont think the Mamba 25 could handle it (can anyone comment on this?) so I was going to actually take it overboard and run a MM (what I'll do is run an MM on my G2R, then when the MMM comes out the MM when go to the MLST). Anyone thing a LMT 1525 is a bit much?

Anyways, I'm just looking for opinions in general. If anyone has any comments on the MLST plan or thinks that another truck would fit my needs better, go ahead and throw it out there.

bp, the mlst still kinda has probs by some ppl.... idk that u want to put a lehener in there LOL it still cant so a wraith 7000kv motor and a 3 cell lipo, still strips the diffs, even with al cases and properly shimed visious gears.. sadly

what about a jammin crt.5? its bid, yet small with gc, and u can bash it, and/or race it

The CRT .5 Seems like too much work lol...

Is the M-LST that weak? I would think the viscous diffs were at least ok...

yup, when u but them the tag says 5400kv, and 2 cell lipo is the limit, i guess they get to hot and get de formed and them loose mesh which strips them..... now most motors with a 2 cell is good for what i have heard......

Its 5400 with 3S lipo actually...

The CRT .5 seems like a very valid project to me now that I took a quick look into it. It seems like it would be very easy to setup (batt on one side, everything else on the other), and I could take use of the disc brakes too. Now I am wondering what kind of motor I should strap in there. Any ideas? I'm thinking a 4600 or 5700 on 3S. Or maybe a 6900 or 5700 on 2S.

Ran my Mini LST for about 6 months with wraith 7k motor on 6 cell IB1400's. I had ball diffs all around and the stock diff pinions! I just recently put in the viscous diff set, doing fine so far. Main thing is to get a good slipper set up, stock one sucks. I use the mini T dual slipper, set to slip a bit when giving full throttle on carpet. It is a real fun little truck, I love it.

I'm suddenly afraid! lol just kidding ;)

bdebde - thats nice to know. My friend plans to build one just like that (actually, he's buying parts, I'm building it for him). I didn't want to suggest the truck and build it and having it end up unreliable (which is one of his biggest conerns).

If you do convert the Jammin .5 whatever, let me know, and you could bring it over to my house and we could cut out a motor mount for it.

Here's another idea - buy my Rustler :). It's very strong with a number of FLM parts, and with the right voltage it could run for a while.

Will do!

As for the Rustler, I want 4wd. I think the CRT .5 will suffice. I've always wanted a truggy :)

However, this will probably wait for a little. I want to get my G2R up and running first.
