Mamba Max HELP!!!

Well, I was planning on racing tomorrow, but for some reason, I decided to power up my car and tinker a bit. My ESC will not boot, Castle link will not recognize, etc.... Green and Red lights light up, but not the yellow. Anyone have this problem ever??? Im stumped, it worked earlier today!?! HELLLLLLLLLP!

glassdoctor 03.11.2007 01:42 AM

Is this when hooked up the computer, or just in the car trying to run it?

If it's a problem connecting to the Castlelink, keep trying it.. I have seen them not respond before. Unplug the usb cord from both the PC and MM... restart the Castlelink software, and try it again.

If it won't boot up and work when you are trying to run it, I'm not sure what the deal is??

it wont boot to run, AND it wont establish a connection to the computer.

Did it get messed up when connecting to the PC or updating the software version? Or did it first do this when you tried to run it?

Several guys have had issues when they tried to install an update...

Well, I updated it earlier today (added drag brake) Then left it alone. Went to drive it about 45 mins ago to get the feel of the drag brake, and nuttin... :(

It's weird that the yellow light doesn't light up. Make sure the USB connection into the ESC is in all the way - when I first hooked up mine it wasn't in all the way at first, even though it felt like it.

And are your batteries fully charged... or at least enough charge?

glassdoctor 03.11.2007 01:53 AM

By update, I mean install a new version of Casltelink and/or new firmware version on the MM.

Sounds like you only tweaked the settings... which should not cause any issues.

Go back and start from scratch... just like it's brand new... recalibrate the radio to the MM, check the radio end point settings etc.. and see if that helps.

Ken448 03.11.2007 01:56 AM

when I plug in the link, both red and green go solid. Yellow does not light up at all. When I start the Castle Link software, the lights begin to flash. When I try to update I get this message:
Error communicating with device. Unable to write packet to controller. Try unplugging and reconnecting USB device.

Ken448 03.11.2007 02:03 AM

I cant calibrate it to the radio, it wont even start to boot. Let me try a diffrent receiver.. But I doubt thats the issue.

How it sits now. Both Red and Green are solid, and the steering servo works. Batts are freshly charged.. Im stumped, this sux!!!! haha

There are some threads on radiocontrolzone about some problems with connecting t the casltelink... you might want to check these out and see if anything works.

I have not installed these updates or tried any of this...

But I did have problems once with a communication error like you are having.. and just had to keep trying it. you might even want to try rebooting the computer if nothing else works.

The USB connection inside the ESC could have gotten dirty. You could try blowing or using an air compressor on the ESC USB connection and on the cable you are using.

If your last update failed somehow and the ESC got a "chopped" update, I can see this happening.

glassdoctor 03.11.2007 02:18 AM

Yeah it sounds like the guys that had it hang during an update, but this one doesn't look like it did that....

well I'm off to bed... keep messin with it something might click...

Ken448 03.11.2007 02:30 AM

YOU GUYS ROCK!!! It was a 2.23 or whatever the new code is issue... Went back to original programming, and Im back in buisness!!!
