Mini LST Metal Diff Leakage
 

Just got a MLST a week back and bought the viscous diffs with them and installed right away before even running the truck. Also has a spare mini-T ball diff and put that in the center. I filled the front and rear diffs with the 2K oil that comes with the kit.

Notice the wheel play getting very loose over the period of 3 - 4 runs and thought I might just need to put in heavier oil. Stripped down the truck and noticed that the oil had almost completely leaked out of seal on the metal gear side of both of the diffs. Has anyone else had this problem / know of a fix?

I cleaned them out, re-seated the o-ring, and fill them with 20K F / 40K R and well see what happens over the next week.

Called Losi and service said that they would expect minor wetness around o-rings after running and that they would need to be refilled every so often, but that the behavior I was experiencing was not to be expected.

dude that sucks! I have those diffs but I have not put them in yet I guess I will have to keep an eye on them! It's too bad you just got your mini lst because they just started advertising the mini lst2 today and it comes with those diffs and a radio system like the spektrums with the 2.4 ghz technology for $229. I would see if I could take it back and wait a couple of months and get al of the new upgrades!

Awwwee man..... :( You just totally ruined my day:031: :019: :035: . I was on Losi's website last night - and even talking to their service just this morning and they said nothing about a mini - LST2. And I just spent the morning ordering up a bunch of upgrades for the little guy.

Radio I am not too concerned about, because I have the LST2 and the first thing I do to any new car is rip the receiver out and put in a Novak XXtra Synthesized FM Receiver.

I guess soon I will have two brushless mini-lst's :027: :027:

are you sure the lst2 comes with the viscous diffs? I didn't see it in there ad. If so then I will defenity dumb my mini lst now. I was going to do it anyways but better to do it now before the value goes down on the old ones.

they are just like the visious diffs being metal. They just aren't being labled visious

Yeah - I like those new tires. I have a pair for my full LST2 and they have great grip on the neighborhood surfaces (street, park, grass, ballfield).

I see they have the aluminum shocks too.

Says not out until mid - May, so now I don't feel too bad about my current mLST upgrades - just got the ProLine Road Rage II tires for the street.

Just wish I had gotten the mLST sooner and not spent sooooo much time and effort on a RC18MT. Within 10 minutes of having it - the mLST is more fun that the RC18MT was - about $800 later........

M-LST2 doesnt have the viscous diff, sure they are metal. just not oil filled. bummer. i like it tough, looks like a nice little truck.
