gmaxx or 1/8 scale?

I want to get a race truck but can't decide wether to just put so money into my emaxx or use that money to get a buggy/truggy?

In all honesty, it depends on how much money you plan on spending. Is your Maxx already BL? What hopups does it have?

1bhutch 04.14.2007 07:47 AM

nothing really. i have a set of 40 series crime fighters on wabash wheels.

Then it would really depend on how much you plan on spending. For the Maxx to be a good racer, you need a 3.3 setup, steel idlers in the tranny, beefed up diffs, BL, and a Gorillmaxx chassis.

Also a better servo, servo saver and shocks IMO.
I think that a lot of the things you need to uprade on the e-maxx will already be good enough out of the box on most of the 1/8th's (except for the brushless of course, and the rest of the electrics), so to me a 1/8th kinda makes more sence if you want it to be an all out racer, but I still like my e-maxx.

Sum up the costs of all the good beefy parts that you'll be spending on your Maxx and if they easily top $1000, I say pick up a Kyosho ST-R or a Mugen MBX-5T.
Mike can easily pick them up for ya with nice prices and pro mods.

I was kind of going towards the 1/8 scale. but then the next qustion comes up buggy or truggy?

jnev 04.20.2007 06:49 PM

Is the track you're going to race at really bumpy? If it is, then a truggy would be better for the increased ground clearance. Also think about how many people at you local track have each one.

I know that you already have the maxx, but since I put my muggy together, the buggy has been neglected. The truck is just a lot more fun to mess with. The conversion is also a bit easier with the truck because it's easier to fit a big battery under the body and the suspension carries the weight better.

Truggy:
Pros:
Better rough track handling
Likes rougher terrain
growing class
more room for elecs

Cons:
Heavier
Costlier
growing class
not a buggy ;)

Buggy
Pros:
Sexiest
Bashable and trackable with people ALWAYS showing up to race (truggy too, but usually more people in the buggy class (here anyways))
Cost less
Faster with equal elecs

Cons:
Less rough track ability but still can take it
Less ability to run in grass if you bash
less room for elecs

That's just a short list with my opinions, but if you do that, it's easy to see which one you want more.
