bearing in motor moving?
1 Attachment(s)
does this look like something that needs attention?
that looks like a problem, if it falls out it might cuase some problems, is it spinning freely?
I havn't removed the pinion gear and inspected it fro end play as I just discovered this. but as far as driving goes it seems fine. just don't know how wide the bearing is. I havn't tried taping it back in.
Can you push it back in? I would lock that bearing up.. If it goes out too far, it could get damaged.
. the outer part of the bearing is loose in the motor can. both bearings. if you pull the armature in and out the bearings move with the armature.
what do you mean "lock it up" loctite? stake the can and press the bearing back in? I would think new bearings are in order for starters. MIKEEEEEE!:-) |
I don't think it's the bearing that causes this. (you don't need new bearings imo)
It looks like you deannodized the can? (it is a basic motor?) how did you deannodized it? It simple looks like the bearing has got a bit too much play. Yes, with locking i meant glue or something. Make sure the glue is not too strong though. |
you would have to ask mike about the motor. I just bought this from a friend of his. no idea what it is.

BTW how does this come apart? |
The Lehner Basic and Basic XL have flanged bearings and won't come out. They normally stick out a mm or so.
Flanged on the inside?
lehner motors have a screwed on endbell. You should just be able to unscrew it with a bit on force....(i think)...
OK well if they can't come out I'm almost good to go.But I don't like the bearing spining in the can so either they have to be glued into the can or the can ruffed up where the bearing sits and the bearing lightlly pressed into the can. OR best yet should I just close my eyes and let it rip?
Probably be a good idea to simply push the bearing flush, and stake the end of it, litely with a small punch like you said. I know they sell some stuff called bearing lock, but you would have to take the motor apart and THOROUGHLY clean the surfaces where you are going to put it.
The bearing is flanged from the inside. To unscrew it, you have to have the motor mounted and then you unscrew it really hard - if the mounting screws are too long, you'll end up shreading some of the coils so make sure it's not too long.
