You could go with either the 7XL and gear down a little, or (IMO the better option) get a 9XL and gear up a tad.

7XL get's my vote if runtime isn't a big concern to you.

t-maxxracer32 04.14.2007 08:04 PM

well what is the speed for the 7xl and 9xl?

also can you get me a link to both of those...

i cant freakin find the dang things

thanks!

I'd go with the 9XL. It think the 7XL is a bit too hot for 14 cells. I've found that is usually better to have to gear up than try to gear down.

I still don't really understand why everyone is so preoccupied by how fast something will go. Although it is a valid question, it just wouldn't be high on my list of priorities.

Generally speaking, the faster something goes, the less runtime you get and the more quickly things will get hot. I started off with 7XL in my conversions. I'm now running 8XLs. Negligible loss of speed, noticeable reduction of heat. You said, 12 to 14 cells. On 12 cells, I'd say that the 8XL will be on the mild side, although you could gear it up. On 14 cells the 8XL will be pretty powerful.

Just keep in mind that I don't mess with 1/10 scale trucks. All of my stuff is 1/8 scale and is heavy, so you just have to keep my comments in perspective. Personally, I'd try to find an 8XL for the Revo. If I had to choose between the 7XL and 9XL, I'd get the 9XL. The speed of the 7XL is always fun at first, but the 9XL will reward you in the long run with more trouble free running.

well its just cause this is for a freind. i think anything over 35 is just for showing off. i dont ever hit 35 on my track anyways (my max speed is like 15 haha!) but he wants this to show off and what not so ya...

thanks for your input aaangel!

You can split down the middle and get the 8XL. 4S Lipo will provide good, yet controllable power for the track, and 5S will bring you rediculous speeds.

BP - he was originally looking at the 8xl, but they are all out of stock, so now he is looking at the 7xl or 9xl.

I wouyld also go with the 9xl... more options for gearing, and the run times will be so much longer. Since you said you don't go very fast at your track, then I think the choice is pretty simple.

the 9 xl gets my vote if speed isn't a big priority, and the 9xl will run a lot cooler for longer than the 7xl.
