Maximizer diff seizing up?
Hi guys,
I have been running my newly built truck since yesterday. I have an old Kippster in the front, and a new Maximizer diff in the rear. It's not the ring and pinion, but in the diff case. It's stiff to turn the tires opposite directions, kinda like it has VERY thick lube it it. I used the lube that came with the maximizer. I made very certain that the gear mesh in the spiders were just right, a close as i could get them without binding. It doesn't really feel like its the gear, something else seems like its rubbing. Before it tear the rear end apart, does anyone know what this would be? |
Are you using 3.3 shafts or cvd's? With 3.3 shafts they might rub against the shocks, with CVD's they might be set too tight (pillowballs turned it too far)
check if the problem still exists if the drivetrain is leveled horizontal. |
The same thing happened to me with the FLM cups in my e-maxx.
I felt stupid when I pulled it apart and found that the screws holding the crown gear on had come loose and one of them had dug into the outer case and got jammed.:007: Obviously, because it's now screwed into aluminium instead of plastic, loctite becomes more important. |
