is this a good race revo setup?
ok so i started a little ebay chop shop buisness and bought a nice little revo the other day (ebay is down so i cant send you the item number... dont remember it off hand) but anyways i looked it ovr and im just going to sell the gas stuff and keep the revo for myself :005:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...9914&rd=1&rd=1 anyways. my moddo is go big or go home. and im not going home...that was kinda gay...:032: anyways. im thinking of a setup along these lines -mikes custom mount (if it will work for the motor that ima get and if it will work for the vantage chassis (should i hope..)) -neu 1515 1.5d -quark 125b -cnc heat sink for quark and for batteries i will be using my 6s1p a123 cells and 16 cell tenergy packs. i might end up buying 2 more 6s packs and stick withonly those but for now this is whatim working with. i will not buy lipos because -they are expensive -they wont withstand my shitty driving:005: -they take a long time to charge (ik the other 8 cells will to but i already have those!) anyways... i do have a couple questions about the setupd 1. with the neu motor will i get -better run times? -cooler temps? -less cogging? -more reliablity then lets say... an 8xl? -less rf? if this has to do with the motor... 2. with the quark 125b -less cogging? idk if this has anything to do with the esc... -less rf? if this has anything to do with the esc... -will i notice a difference than the 80b? or the cc esc? -is it worth the money? 3. is the neu a better choice then the 1950? i honestly do not know any difference other than price... fill me in!! 4. what is the difference between a high dollar setup (125b and a 1515) and a low budget setup (cc esc and a 8xl) basically i want the most baddass truck possible. well kinda... i am willing to spend money. not waste it. i will be honest. speeds over 45 scare me with a rustler so for a 1/8th 4wd mt.... idk... (ik its not actually 1/8 but its technically that size... i think...) ok well that was definetly well spent hour... sheesh... sorry for the long post.... i appreciate it alot though!! thanks for any help guys! |
o and i have an extra set of those tbonz drive shafts that was for a t-maxx... will these fit the revo? are they worth it?
thanks |
ebays working now heres the link

anyways. im thinking of a setup along these lines
-mikes custom mount (if it will work for the motor that ima get and if it will work for the vantage chassis (should i hope..)) Mike can make it for the motor you want -neu 1515 1.5d -quark 125b -cnc heat sink for quark and for batteries i will be using my 6s1p a123 cells and 16 cell tenergy packs. i might end up buying 2 more 6s packs and stick withonly those but for now this is whatim working with. i will not buy lipos because -they are expensive -they wont withstand my shitty driving -they take a long time to charge (ik the other 8 cells will to but i already have those!) Good reasons not to buy lipo's but you could consider trakpowers anyways... i do have a couple questions about the setupd 1. with the neu motor will i get -better run times? compared to what? it is an efficient motor, but so is the 1950. DIfferences in runtime between a neu and an 8XL will be minimal -cooler temps? Compared to what? -less cogging? cogging mostly depends on the controller -more reliablity then lets say... an 8xl? No, reliability is not an issue -less rf? if this has to do with the motor... No, it's a 4 poler, theoritical it would produce more noise than a 2poler 2. with the quark 125b -less cogging? idk if this has anything to do with the esc... yes, s moothest esc available -less rf? if this has anything to do with the esc... Depends on your wire routing/setups style -will i notice a difference than the 80b? or the cc esc? yes, the 125 is more suited for MT's. the 80b is too light -is it worth the money? IMO, yes, but that depends on you 3. is the neu a better choice then the 1950? i honestly do not know any difference other than price... fill me in!! yes, i think it is. Too bad you need a more expensive controller with it though 4. what is the difference between a high dollar setup (125b and a 1515) and a low budget setup (cc esc and a 8xl) the 8XL will be less efficient on partial load, and will get hotter because of that. the 1515 has got more torque as well. the quark is the smoothest esc available, but the MM is close. I don't recommend the use of 6S on both controllers though. basically i want the most baddass truck possible. well kinda... i am willing to spend money. not waste it. i will be honest. speeds over 45 scare me with a rustler so for a 1/8th 4wd mt.... idk... (ik its not actually 1/8 but its technically that size... i think...) yes, 40mph is more than enough for bashing an MT, both setups will suit your needs, and again, 5S is enough ok well that was definetly well spent hour... sheesh... sorry for the long post.... i appreciate it alot though!! Sorry for not replying any sooner. thanks for any help guys! anytime |
1.5d is a 2700kv motor isn't it? And 6 A123 cells would be 19.8v?
I would think that motor might be a bit hot for that voltage. Potentialy around 50 000rpm, which is a fair bit for a monster truck. It would work, and be very fast, but personally I wouldn't use that setup for more than a one off speed run other wise I would think that you'd have some heat problems. One of the lower kv 1515 should work a bit better. For racing monster trucks most people aim for a motor/voltage combo that will do 30,000-35,000rpm to get a happy medium between heat/speed/reliability/runtime etc. You can go with a setup outside of that, but usually there will be a trade off between those things. |
I thought he meant a 2.5d.. my bad, 2700kv on 19.8V would smoke that quark at on of the first runs.
|
The 2.5d should be good for that voltage, too bad there out of stock, and you'll have to wait till mine is sent, before you can order one:018:
|
lol ok so the 1.5d is not a good choice? what about the 2.5d? reason why i ask is because i would rather not buy new batteries... if i can stick with my own i would like that. let me know what is a good setup for my needs
revo w/ 6s a123. |
o and you said what about track power... well arent those just lipos with a case? im just guessing on this..
|
They are lipo's. But they can take a lot more abuse, so they are a lot less likely to blow up, fry, etc. They are also just a lot better overall, from what I hear from everyone using them on this forum.
|
The TrakPower's from what I have seen, they are almost a constant voltage power supply for your R/C. They have very good voltage sag, like 3.5v at 100amps constant load (4900mah pack)
|
well for 120 bucks a battry they better be nice!
|
got a link to track power
|
was that a question? lol
i just looked on this website and found them at the store |
Tower now carries FlightPower/TrakPowers.
I'd personally get a 1950. It can be used with a wider variety of ESC's, though I have been waiting nearly 6 months for mine (and still am). The Neu's are great, don't get me wrong, but I'd personally get the LMT. |
