Newbie help...
Hi,
Just starting out on a hopped 2.5r chassis - I've purchased the Emaxx transmission and have mgm 80 / Wanderer 7L (I know I'll need to up this to an XL soon) - I've a Maxamps 3s 5000 to start with - which is as much as my mm brushless pede (4600) & rustler (5700) can take. I'm looking forward to the fab of ESC/Battery mounts etc but was looking for pointers on how to fit the EMAXX tranny in - Lock into second etc. I hear that I need extended centre drive shafts - Do I just need to buy a set of 3.3 drive shafts? Seem to go for nothing on Ebay. Any other pointers to what I'm missing? Not sure if there is a sticky around or something that someone can point me to. Thanks |
Welcome to the forums!
You'll have to modify the chassis tranny hole a tad with a dremel or file. Go slowly taking just a tiny bit off at a time test-fitting the tranny every few minutes. Then, the mounting holes in the chassis will have to be elongated a little to match up with the E tranny. To lock in second, you can either do a homemade job where you screw the dog carrier into second gear, or get the gmaxx locking hub: http://scriptasylum.com/forumpics/lockinghub.jpg You are most likely going to want to get the following as well: - Steel idler - Strobe slipper setup - Ofna 51T spur - Mod1 5mm bore pinions assuming you go with an XL motor. (10th item down the page). Revo centers might fit, but they may rub a little on the Revo bulks. A little dremeling should fix that. Or, contact Mike (site owner) and see about getting custom dogbones made. |
Be sure to watch the temps running that 7L in a truck. I have an 8L in my buggy when I first converted it and destroyed two or three 3S2P 6Ah packs. That setup will draw some current when you run it hard. Just my experience, you may have better luck. I'd try to make the move to 4S as soon as I could and get an XL can motor. I think that a 7 or 8XL will do nicely on 4S, depending on how fast you want to go.
