Calling all Quark 125 Monster Pro oweners!
I am looking to install a Neu 1515 1.5d/F Sensorless Brushless Motor, Quark 125 Monster Pro ESC and 5S Lipo on my Maxx. However, I have a few questions that I am hoping that you all will help me answer:
1. Are you pleased with the performance of the Monster Pro ESC? 2. If you have the RC-Monster heatsink, was it difficult to install? Pictures? 3. How would you charatcerize programming difficulty? 4. Have you had any experience running 5S with the Monster Pro? Any problems? 5. Are there any alternatives that are better than the Monster Pro? Why? |
1. Yes
2. No - just install ESC on the flat side of the heatsink with thermal transfer paste (Arctic Silver is prob the best) add fans to the other side and wire fans to power on your truck. The heatsink can be found on the main page of the RC-Monster Store... 3. Fairly Easy, helps to have a friend help - one reads the program - other does the programming with the transmitter. 4. None 25 mins on my Smaxx on a track - fine with heatsink. 5. If your hard on the equipment then the 125 is good (imo)- if your easy and finesse is your game - then you could use the mamba maxx -.. 2 i know my neighbour uses it. Two zipties will offer help. It mounts directly into the remaning slot of the emaxx extra motor ear on the motor-holder 3 PITA.. i prefer the mm or a programming card. They are not as hard as the MGM's but the fact you need to take a study in the manual says enough IMO.. it doesn't work intuitive. 4 nope, not yet, but 5S is pretty easy on it. 6S gives problems. 5 Nope, not for 5S, unless you want to put your money on MGM, but they take a rather long time to get replaced if it is broken. Quark has got a flawless warrantee (so far) |

Yeah, you need a UBEC, it simple delivers the 5/6V to the receiver it needs. you just take the main leads and tap the high 18.5V and the UBEC makes a nice 6V of it. Unlike the becs in the escs, it uses a small transformer to create the 6V, it is way more efficient than an internal BEC.

1. Very smooth but one died after 2nd run. Replacement seems ok, but still strugling with some issues as Quark does not repond to throttle once in a while. Some interference probably.
2. Have it taped (using adhesive thermal tape + few super glue drops) to 2 chipset heatsinks 3. Very, very easy 4. I run 16 cells. 5. For any other motor than neu MM is way cheaper and for more cells MGMs |

HotnCold....forgot to read the part about the opto disable huh.....however.....if you don't want to remove the red wire....you can use the dimension engineering sport ubec..and it uses a throttle pass thru feature and the red wire doens't need to be pulled ( ie turning off internal bec).....that is what ubec im running and it works flawlessly as well

I just use short servo extension with red wire removed.

Yup, I used to use that ol trick as well.....it works good too
