savage motorplate/ center diff ?
 

i'm looking for a motor plate for my savage that places the motor between the tvp's. i have the kershaw designs plate and it works fine but i would like to have the motor between the plates for safety and to lower the cg.

has anyone put a emaxx single speed or a center diff successfully in their savage? if so i would like to see some pics. any info would be appreciated.

You for some stupid reason there is a time limit on the posts in the savage forum. If you turn that off, and select show all posts, you will see a cd savage i did some time back.

Call me stupid.... But I cant find where to turn off the time limit. Can you be more specific please???


BTW RJMac.... I just did a hack job Motor mount for the savage Im building and mounted the motor in between the chassis plate on the nitro motor plate. I'll snap a couple pics when I get home and you can see what I did. Its not pretty and I havent tested it yet, but it is beafy. Its actually a pretty tight fit, but it all fits.

At the bottom of the page you'll find this;

Heres the picrures of what I did. Basically a .375 alluminum plate with 4m holes drilled and tapped in the bottom edge. They line up with the nitro motor mount adjustment holes in the stock savage plate. Then I took a piece of scrap CF angle I had and mad a bottom for the mount that goes under the motor and holes to allow it to be fatened in the other 2 stock motor mount adjustment holes. Accross the front to hold the motor I used a couple G-maxx motor mount plates I had sitting around. They are doubled up and should be plenty strong considering the motor is sresting on the bottom CF plate so its supported all the way back.

Its a tight fit but it works. Not a ton of room for adjustment under there. The motor can is all the way against the side chssis plate and resting on the bottom mount. I wanted to use a 24T oinion cuz I'm running a 2 speed and first gear is low, but it wont fit. The biggest gear I can fit is a 20T, maybe 22T but I dont have one to try.

Anyway, hope this helps.

thanks jhautz the pics help. i'm not sure but is one of the tvp's removed in that last pic? or am i just missing it. i like what you have done i'm just looking for ideas. you mentioned about the 20t or 22t pinion, from my experience with mine the 20t made it difficult to handle with a 47t spur gear and an 7xl motor. now i run an 18t and it is still wicked fast it could be faster but the track i run on is tight. and better control makes for faster lap times.

No, the TVPs are both on in all of the picures. the esc mounting plate is mounted on top of the fuel tank side so it kinda hides it in the pictures.

I'm running the plastic 49T spur so with the 47T spur it might allow an extra tooth on the pinion. This is going to be a pure basher and that means speed is fun. :018: Much less worried about control.

...I basically have a hellfire center diff centrally mounted between the plates on my e-sav...works great...still ironing out a few pieces though...

An interesting thing I saw was a set of flm tvps which use nitro savage ends with a e-savage tranny in the middle. Some one has probably mentioned this before on here but I though I'd mention it again. The thing I don't like about that setup is that the batteries are still on the out side of the truck.

Here. Center diff, over one year ago. WIth 5S 8000mAh batts inside the TVPs. And now Mike has a nice mount for a direct drive center diff in a savage, should hit the store soon!

That's the best thing I have heard all day Daf. Mike sent me an e-mail about this with pics and I replied but got no response. This is exactly what I wanted to hear. Imagine if mike released this and the Castle release the MMM. I think I would pass out with excitement.

It uses FLM ext. tvp's.

Is that a more finished version of the truck i saw earlier serum? It looks like it. I love it and I can't wait. Any pics of the battery tray? I assume we are going to have to make that our selves?

It will come with a battery tray. Maybe Mike will even provide different sizes, but this 5S (Either 7400 Apogee or 8000 Maxamps) is a rather obvious choice, since they fit so nice in between the TVPs.

That's awesome news. I am slowly building up my collection of tools but I'm still not there. It sounds like it's almost going to be a complete kit. So will dog bones be included or are they a mix of standard length ones?
