Spur Gear for Strobe Slipper Clutch on E-Maxx with Plett MAXXimum

I have a Plett MAXXimum on my E-Maxx and tried to install the Strobe Slipper Clutch with a 51T Ofna Spur Gear and a MOD 1 14T Pinion Gear. Well, the gears don't mesh when the motor is fully adjusted in. What gears should I be using so that my Plett will clear the transmission and have a perfect gear mesh?

I am pretty sure the 18 tooth works, though I haven't seen it with a stock tranny/motor mount.

I've gone ahead and ordered the 18T MOD 1 pinion from RC-Monster.

Are there any aftermarket motor mounts other than the GorillaMaxx motor mount, which requires their X-Brace and chassis?

None that I am aware of. You will most likely eventually upgrade the chassis (you have some $ in the truck, so a chassis to handle the power is a logical next step in the evolution of your maxx!).

Yeah, I might upgrade the chassis when I get some more cash. I've already spend quite a bit in the last month on this project!

I did find out how to get my slipper clutch to work. I had to re-mount the motor, using two mounting plates. Here is a pic. I will have more pics on this thread, later this weekend: Rear Mounted MAXXimum

Nice work!

Thanks! It took about 10 hours yesterday to get that "revision" done. It was a lot of work, to say the least! Probably would have been much easier to just by the GorillaMaxx Chassis.:D But, one of the things that I love about this hobby, is that I get to modify things! I need to resurrect some pics of a Hybrid Monster Truck that I built a couple of years ago. I combined a custom chassis'd Ofna Monster Pirate with T-Maxx suspension. It really looked cool! Maybe I'll host pics of my past projects later this week and start a new thread.

I agree! I love to "customize". It makes the hobby very interesting, and it allows each vehicle to be different(even if they are the same "vehicle").

nice job dude! what diffs you running? how many cells? 14 tooth seem about right? how you like the strobe?

Compliantguy 06.12.2005 02:45 PM

I'm still running the factory diffs.

I just started running 14 cells (3800mAh Intellect), and they absolutely KICK BUTT!! I couldn't believe the difference between my two 6 cell EPIC packs and my new two 7 cell Intellects! It will flip completely over if you hit full throttle from a dead start! It truly is a wild beast.:D

The pinion is a 14T and works perfect.

The Strobe kit is pretty cool, but I'm going to have to shorten the tension spring a little. Also, they should've included the spacer shims that are required during installation. It puzzles me as to why they didn't include them??:C: Luckily, I had some shims left over from my Nitro RC days.

Overall, I'm very impressed with the results from my latest modifications!
