Duratrax intellapeak false charging

I got the new charger the twin pulse with the new IB4200 WCE batteries and Ive already chraged the batteries like 10 times so I dont think I have to break them in. But as soon as I plug them in sometimes both lights will start to flash and sometimes only one will? Why? One time it charged for like 50 min. and I checked the voltage and it was like 2 or 3 volts from the peak on on battery and the other was like a volt off?

before i got my Ice chargers, i had the intellipeak twin. one side (with the yellow light) would flash once and a while without charging the battery. i can't remember what i did, but it was one of 2 things: either plug the charger in first without batteries and wait a couple seconds and then attach the batteries, or i had the batteries attached first and then plugged the charger in. one of the 2 ways worked for me every time, lol.

thx anyone else?

e-maxxking 05.14.2007 10:59 PM

I started charging them again and I was cheaking the voltage and one said 9.3 volts and the other said 9.0 volts. A couple minutes later I cheacked it again and the 9.4 one was blinking, so i checked the voltage and it said 8.0! Why??????

Another 10 min. and the blinking one drop agin to 7.9 volts!

Another 5 min. and a switch the 7.9 battery went back to 9.1 and the other one is at 9.4 now? Weird

So What ive been doing is switching the batteries back and fourth so the will both charge.

Its wierd but I had the same problem too. I purchased some Intergy 4200 7 cell batteries for my E-Maxx and put them on the Twin Pulse charger. According the the charger they were ready to use but when I used them they gave me about 5-10 minutes of run time. Charged them again and same result. It was suggested that I discharge my batteries. After using the discharger, I recharged them (took about 1 1/2) and they gave me about 30-40 minutes of run time. Every now and then it happens. So my suggestion is to try the same thing. Hope that helps.

Is the delta peak setting set too low?

ClodMaxx 05.31.2007 05:08 PM

i think the delta peak is preset from the factory, and can't be adjusted. because this charger is so infamous for false peaks (which are harmless... just keep peaking them until they're fully charged) the delta peak is prob. really low. if you set it too high, you run the risk of frying your packs.

E-Maxx King 06.06.2007 06:41 PM

I just tryied to charge my packs again and its always the yellow side that says its peak but its actully lower the the battery charging!

ClodMaxx 06.06.2007 06:43 PM

well the good part about that charger is that it has a 5 year warranty, lol. send it back and have duratrax fix it.

E-Maxx King 06.06.2007 06:46 PM

But it has deans. So can I just change them back to tam.?

ClodMaxx 06.06.2007 06:51 PM

i believe you have to call duratrax first to let them know it's coming, and they may have to send you a return for warranty form. you could always ask, but i don't think it'll be a problem to ship it with deans as that's what just about everyone has to change over to anyhow. just make sure they send the deans plugs back after warranty, lol.

I had the digital one, it false peaked so badly i will never own another one. I won't even look at the ice, because they look alike. I got titans and love them

ClodMaxx 06.07.2007 09:30 AM

i've had an Ice for nearly a year now, and loved it so much i bought a 2nd one. i owned the twin pulse first, and it false peaked a LOT. i've not had 1 false peak in either of my Ice's, and i have it set to the 2nd lowest peak threshold (3mv). the only complaint i have is one of them won't discharge at 10 amps. it only discharges at slightly over 5, when i have it set to 10. not sure what the problem is, but i'm hesitant to send it in for warranty as i added backlit screens to both of them. :010: but, it charges fine with no false peaks so discharging at a lower rate isn't that big a deal to me.

that chargers juck i had 2 of them do the same thing

EngMaxx 06.17.2007 11:36 PM

I had two of the twin pulse chargers. I thought they were fine minus the regular false peaks, cooling fan stopping/noisey and no adjustable settings.

Then I borrowed my buddy's IB 3800's 7-cell (same as mine) during a bashing session, he broke a major component on his maxx, therefore the batteries had already seen some run-time. My maxx took off like a bat-out-of-hell! He uses a MRC 977. I went home that night and sold both the Duratrax chargers and ordered the 977. I have never looked back.

Save yourself the headache and buy a 977 or equivalent quality charger; i.e. one that you can set the delta peak AND is a linear charger, not pulse like the Duratrax. You won't believe the difference until you try it but believe me, there is a huge difference in battery performance.
