RC10GT almost finished
 

I just got my RC10GT back from Mike. He installed the esc, made the motor mount, made the battery box and supplied all of the parts.

I'm running a MM esc,
7S motor with RC-Monster heatsink
MaxAmps 5500mah Saddle Pack

I have a new steering steering servo that is not installed yet and the the receiver mount is temporary.
The problem I'm having at this time is the esc will not program to the receiver. When I go through the setup nothing happens. I turn the esc on, the red and green lights stay on and it only beeps as soon as I turn it on, nothing happens after?? Any idea what I might be doing wrong? All help would be greatly appreciated. While the truck was at RC-Monster Mike tested the truck with his own receiver if that makes any difference.
Also I would love to hear everyone comments about how the truck came out. I think Mike did a great job, I love the way it came out, cant wait to drive it now.

Can't really help you with the programming of the MM... but the rc10gt looks awesome. As always Mike does an awesome job on these conversions. Glad to see another converted st. You don't get to see these very much.

I can't tell, but if your radio is a Futaba (or Futaba-based radio) you will probably have to reverse the throttle channel.

So you have the throttle trim set to 0 (centered) and the EPA set to 100% both ways.

I'm using the stock AE radio and receiver that came with the truck when it was a nitro RTR.

I don't know how you guys have such patients on ur projects.. but the truck looks nice...

Looks like he maybe used a modified Revo mount on there to mount the motor. I bet that saved him a ton of time in the fabrication. At any rate, it looks great and be sure and let us know how it runs...preferrably with some vids! :D

OK, did you set the trim to centered and EPA to 100% (if available)? When calibrating the ESC, it needs to see a certain range of throttle throw. So, if you have the trim off center and/or EPA set funny, it might not want to calibrate.

I figure if you're gonna go through the trouble of doing all the work for a conversion, why not spend a little more time to do it right so it's pretty and functional?

This is the radio that I have, I have tried it a bunch of different ways and I'm still getting the same result. I'm sure its just me doing something wrong.

I guess you could start with the obvious. Plug a servo (steering maybe?) into the throttle channel and see if you get it to turn. If so, then the signal is OK.

I know the transmitter in the picture was part of the package, but do you know if it is Futaba based? Some RTRs can come with the electronics from other manufacturers - they just put their label on it. Either way, you could try reversing the throttle channel and give it a go.

I assume you are trying to calibrate it to the ESC according to the ESC's manual...

Brian thank you very much for the help. Yes I'm going through the setup process per the manual. I can see now what needs to be done. I talked to Mike for a little while and he was helping me out on the phone. The problem is that when it tries to program the neutral setting it keeps rejecting it. I'm going to play with it a little more then try my receiver and transmitter from my stock e-maxx.
I also had my esc wiring plugged in backwards. Brown wire should of been out not in. I learn as I go, I'm sure these are newbie mistakes.

The truck finally lives. I got the stock traxxas receiver to work. The truck is pretty faster, wheelies on comand. The first time I went anywhere near full throttle it flipped on its lid and slid down the street about 100 feet, I was chasing after it in my slippers.
