questions about v1 differential for revo (g2r)
I just received them from mike. I was wondering if there is a certain diff fluid range to choose. I ordered the truggy one for my g2r, did i make a mistake? should i get the buggy diffs as well?
thanks austin:032: |
The fluid will depend on how you want the truck to perform.
The only problem with the truggy diffs is the lower gear ratio. However, if you can make it up in spur/pinion gearing or increasing tire size, it won't matter. It's the final rollout value that is made up of all the gearing and tire diameter. |
thanks, i'll be using the hardended 16 and 20 tooth pinions, ofna 51 tooth spur.
i'm running the single speed conversion. and standard mt crimefighters. with this "lower gear ratio" which way should i gear with spur/pinion? |
Well, I would plug your values into the calculator (top link in sig) and get some ideas for the speeds you're looking at.

thanks again that calculator is freakin sweeeeet, i have nobody but this forum to help me, my lhs is not interested. i am so appreciative of this place.
so is the Spur/Pinion Reduction Ratio same as final roll out? my current choices are 2.55/1 at 34 mph 3.19/1 at 27 mph which is the most efficient for the electronics? it's about 90 f here |
I'm surprised your LHS doesn't care. After all, it's a business to make money and you'd think they would get interested if it means more of your money in their pocket. Oh well, their loss I guess.
Final roll out is the combo of all gearing (diffs, spur/pinion, tranny, etc) and also the tire size. (Bigger tires make the car go faster for the same axle rpm.) The 27mph option would probably run cooler, but kinda boring IMO. The 34 mph option doesn't sound too bad though. I would get a couple pinions so that you have some options. Just watch temps until you get a feel for what they are for different driving conditions and ambient temps. |
