Ugh..Need to decide for E-Maxx
Hey guys I have been through a ton of decisions lately, and I just need to set things straight.
-Warrior 9920 -Feigao 9XL -5mm Bore, 32P 20t pinion -RC Monster Heatsink, Silver, XL Size -Hardened steel idler gear-Emaxx transmission (Single Gear) I would be running 12 cells, or 16 if possible with a different esc. I hear 35mph and I think...S...L...O...W... But maybe I am just being too quick of it. My emaxx seems like it goes about 20mph right now on 12 cells so I guess it would be a good jump up. I am no longer running 14 cells on the EVX being I fried my first one the other day. I would like to stay at about $240 MAX for esc and motor combo alone, being the MM and feigo is like $215. Please, please put in your input. I am not going lipo anytime soon. Thanks! -Pat |
I know that 35mph doesn't sound too impressive.
I don't own an emaxx, but I do have a Monster GT conversion and a Losi 8ight T conversion. I run an 8XL in the Monster GT and a 9XL in the 8ight T. Both are geared for mid 30's or so. Believe me, 35mph with a monster truck is fast. As you approach 40 mph, driving gets to be a bit squirrely, as in hard to control. I'm not trying to knock or bash anyone, but you might hear claims of monster trucks doing 50 mph. It may have looked like 50mph, but odds are that it wasn't. Very few actually get a mph reading via gps or some other reliable system of measuring speed (and I'm not talking about a cheap radar gun). I like the MM/8XL combo. Personally, I'd go with the 9XL. You can gear up to make up for most of the loss of speed, and with the 9XL you'll have less trouble running really big tires, if you are inclined to do so. All out speed is cool, but unless you're drag racing a monster truck, you'll never use it. If this is your first bl setup, you're going to be impressed. Even if you just build your setup to match the speed you're getting now, it'll still perform better by virtue of the massive amounts of torque you're going to get. BTW, welcome to the forums. |
Thanks for your input and I understand what you are saying now completely.
New setup plan: -Warrior 9920 -Feigo 9XL BTW, not my first Brushless setup. I have the Mamba 6800 in my rc18 with 3S lipo. Insane...That actually does do 50mph. |
35 mph may not sound fast, but with the crazy amounts of torque, it LOOKS twice as fast!
