8xl vs 8l?

On the rc driver e-revo they put a 8l on 4s and he said it hit 48mph? So could a 8xl on 4s do the same? Is the only difference torqe?

Too hot vs okay..

the 8L is too hot for an MT.

E-Maxx King 06.19.2007 04:16 PM

The RC Driver one put one in there E-Revo.

Yeah, and it was discussed back then, we disagreed on his choice of motor.

The 8L in a monster truck? Yeah, been there, done that. It's both figuratively and literally too hot.

E-Maxx King 06.19.2007 11:15 PM

Well just the speed tho?

AAngel 06.19.2007 11:29 PM

I don't understand the question. You want to put an 8L into the truck just to make it go fast?

King, you asked the question and have gotten a response, but you seem to be trying to squeeze a nod out of us on putting an 8L into your truck.

Bud, do what you want. We're just telling you that it's going to get HOT quick. If you want to go fast, try a 7XL or even a 6XL. Either would be better than the 8L in a truck. Believe me, the 6 or 7XL is going to get plenty hot enough as it is.

I have an 8L. It's in my buggy right now. It's insanely fast. I went out to the lot last Thursday and whipped some Jato 3.3 butt with my 9lb buggy; but I couldn't run it for more than a few minutes at a time. Granted, it was haulin' but I wouldn't want to run it like that all of the time.

The same thing with your truck. If you want it to haul butt all of the time, you're going to have to look to something other than a Feigao motor on 4S lipo. Maybe if you had a 6S setup with a good efficient motor that could stay cool turning maybe 40,000 rpms then you could have a good solid setup that was fast all of the time and dependable; but you aren't going to get that for under $250.

Speed is one, but being able to run it at that speed for a longer time is the other part.

Feigao's get less efficient the more load you put on them, put that in combination with trying to get the same power as an XL setup, and the fact that the motor is physically smaller.... BIG heat problems.
