Im going with a NEU so waht motor and ESC? Im going with 14 cell right now but 4s later. Can a MM handle this motor?

Some people have cogging issues with the Neu and MM, but for others it works fine. Nobody really knows of it will work for them.

Neu and Mamba Max esc is really NOT recommended. When it cogs and too much throttle is applied, you can burn up the controller.

I would either go with a Compro or a Quark esc.

What Neu motor is this?

A NEU 1515 1.5d/f or a NEU 1515 1y/f. So there only two controllers that work? What about gearing? 66/18?

Trust me, and everyone, and anyone with a sane mind, you do not want to go 50mph in a truck.I hope you have nothing in your drivetrain that is stock with ANY BL system, it will chew it up and spit it out.

You will have your hands full with the 1Y, and that is the limit for those batteries anyways.

Just get the 1Y if you want a Neu, and go for the Compro or the Quark with RC-Monster heatsink mount.

King, not to get down on you or anything, but this is the second thread where you've asked for advise and then argued with those giving it.

The general consensus here is that running a motor at no more than 35,000 rpms is the way to go in a truck. The two best motors that you could get are the Lehner and Neu, but you are asking about the Neu motor here. If you are going to run a Neu, you need either a Compro or Quark controller. To stay under 35,000 rpm on a 4S setup, your choices start at the 1515/1Y on down the kv scale.

The 1515/1Y is very popular for truck applications, but some go with the 2.5d for more conservative running on 4S, with the ability to go to 5S for more speed. Of course, you could run the 1Y on 5S for a bit of insanity, but it will run hotter.

You also seem to be stuck on the speed issue. You asked about 50 mph. I really don't think that you realize what you are asking for. 40 mph is fast for a monster truck. At speeds over 40, most MT tires are going to be ballooned to the point of being pencil thin at the point where they meet the concrete and steering will be iffy at best.

If speed is all you are worried about, you might be better served converting an on road car or maybe even a buggy. I know that my buggy does over 50 pretty easily.

As for how much torque, it will be sick. You can't even imagine what the torque will be like. You can watch videos and they still don't convey what it's like to see it in real life. The guy who owns my LHS has been in the business for over 20 years and when I showed him my MGT conversion he said that he'd never seen anything even close to having that much power. When I let him drive it, he had a hard time keeping the truck on all fours.

This was with a Feigao 8XL on 4S in a 13lb truck.

From what I gathered from your posts, you will likely be best served with a 1515/1Y. It may not get you going as fast as you think you want to go, but it'll be the closest that you can get and still have a dependable setup.

The runtime will depend on how you run, but I'll go out on a limb and say that if you go with the 1Y and 4S lipo, you should get about half an hour on an 8Ah pack.

I've gone a completely different route. I've gone light in my truggy for racing purposes. 4S lipo, 1512/2.5d motor, and 5Ah battery pack.

I know but Im a noob. SRY! I read on the neu 1y. RICEMAN ran that motor on a MM? I just PM him to get to the bottom of this. I think brother will just get me the 8xl if the neu doesnt work on the MM. PLZ Work. So I be wheeling like crazy on the stock chassis!


There was a thread a while back and he used the airplane 125b cause he said it was half the cost. Where can I get this?


Also will the BK Electronics 12020 run it? Where do I get a cheaper ubec?

O and do I have to order male and female 5.5 plugs?

A few are running the Neu motors with MM controllers, but the majority of those that do have cogging problems. Running a Neu with a MM is going to stress the esc.

If you go with an airplane controller, you'll have to arrange for mechanical brakes. To me, it seems that the expense and PITA (present and future) of running mechanical brakes outweights any savings that you might realize by going with the plane controller.

I believe that the BK controllers will only handle two pole motors. The 5.5mm connectors aren't absolutely necessary, but they do work well.

If cost is a big factor, you might be well served by a MM/Feigao 8XL setup.

Ebay for a 'cheaper' ubec, but cheap often = nasty. I hope you have upgraded to FLM hybrid bulks & HB diffs, 3.3 drive shafts and good quality centres, steel idlers& locked the tranny into second. If you havent done all that ( and more ideally ) you are going to end up with a really nice BL setup in a really weak truck. At the end of the day a stock Emaxx is not designed for any kind of BL power- read around the Emaxx & BL sections and research the upgrades done- then you will have a better idea of what you are dealing with.

Another option is the HV4.5- drop in system that just requires a few minor up grades. Its better for noobs since although it doesnt have anywhere near the same torque, the motor can still get you up to 40 mph quickly and it can run at higher temps/revs (though not a good thing, it can take it better than some setups). Good batteries area must though.

Do you know anyone that has reached 40mph in an HV-maxx? I don't know, I am asking? I thought 35mph was the limit.
