RC-Monster Maxx - Part Deux

Hey guys,

I posted this in the temporary forums but I'd really like to keep it accessable to people as I think Mike really stretched the boundaries of awesome with this truck.

This was a custom project that Mike has been working on off and on for the past 7 months. Following the pictures I will list the components of the build.

Pretty! I woudn't want to drive it!

Is this Mike's truck or yours? What is the weight as-is (in the pic)?

Thos skinny Ti arms make it look fragile, but they sure can take a beating!

belligerentruth 08.27.2007 03:51 PM

The truck is mine now and currently in the mail on its way to me as we speak! (yay, I'm excited)

Those wheels/tires are for show. Without them it weighs 10.3 lbs. With them it goes to just shy of 14.

BrianG 08.27.2007 03:56 PM

Ooh, a little bit of a piggy aint she? Once you put in the servo, ESC, and batteries, it should be right around 15-16lbs right? Still, that Neu should have no trouble at all powering it!

Sorry no, those were RTR wieghts. I have 1 picture posted where its still WIP, the rest it's got everything on board.

sweet truck...definitely looks pretty, and clean! excellent work to you and Mike!!!

do i spot a UE monobloc on there? (i think you mentioned that in the temp forum). i believe the FLM chassis is about the same extended length as a UE lightning - did mike make you the extended rear center dogbone? just wondering how close it is to one that i had to have made, which i believe was about 130.8mm.

nice job.

Yep, Forgot to mention that in the parts breakdown. Also he did get the driveshafts custom made/adonized but as to their length - I'm not sure. Like I said I don't have my hands on it yet *twitches in anticipation*

I said ti on the last topic you made about it, but I'll say it again. That is one hell of a killer truck you got there.

That is one nice truck. Was that your own design? What was the cost for the machining? I have a guy here in NJ that wats to charge me $45hr. to machine my chassis. If Mike can offer a better price, I'll give him a call. I will also see if he will test my ESC to see if he approves it. For sure your truck is too nice looking to drive.

Heres a link to the orignal thread- more pics showing the custom parts:

The chassis is the FLM version - it's had the battery trays shaved off and a new custom battery tray / diff mount added to it.

Mike will usually give you a set price, and not by how long it takes him.

I'm assuming thats not finished? Looks to have a few sharp edges and such.

lutach 08.27.2007 11:18 PM

Ok, I'll talk to him after my controller gets here. I have a few chassis design done. It is not perfect, but I might do a prototype out of some balsa wood.

sleebus.jones 08.28.2007 08:41 AM

Wow. Very nice!

Hopefully we'll see that center diff/motor mount/battery tray thing show up in the store!

Procharged5.0 08.28.2007 10:15 AM

Looks great.

Hmmmm...........maybe I should modify my FLM chassis????
