RC-Monster Maxx - Part Deux
Hey guys,
I posted this in the temporary forums but I'd really like to keep it accessable to people as I think Mike really stretched the boundaries of awesome with this truck. This was a custom project that Mike has been working on off and on for the past 7 months. Following the pictures I will list the components of the build. http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/e...truth/side.jpg The finished truck from the side http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/e...ruth/front.jpg The finished truck from above - ignore the crooked bumper *grin* http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/e...ntruth/top.jpg A clear picture of the truck from above - without the lid. http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/e...h/IM000507.jpg A work in progress shot - obviously this picture is missing some key components. Here is everything used in the build: FLM E-maxx Chassis [MODIFIED - Center Diff / Motor Mount & lowered battery trays] FlexTek Titanium Suspension Arms FLM Front and Rear Hybrid Bulks UE Monoblock Extension RacerX SuperShocks SuperMaxx Servo Saver Hot Bodies Diffs SuperMaxx CVDs FLM Adjustable Shock Towers FLM Bulkhead Braces RC Metric Blue Screw Kit 2mm Titanium Skid Plates Flame Engraved Maxx Body Mounts Blue Aluminum Bumpers (Front & Rear) Metallic Blue Shock Boots JDCarbon Carbon Fibre/Aluminum Hybrid Turnbuckles Hitec HSC-5955 Titanium Gear High Speed Servo Integy Super-Duty Type II Steering Blocks Apogee Li-Mn Battery Setup Neu 1515 1.5d/F MGM 224/18 ESC RD Logics Aluminum 40 series Rims Pro-Line Road Rage 40 Series Wheels |
Pretty! I woudn't want to drive it!
Is this Mike's truck or yours? What is the weight as-is (in the pic)? Thos skinny Ti arms make it look fragile, but they sure can take a beating! |
The truck is mine now and currently in the mail on its way to me as we speak! (yay, I'm excited)
Those wheels/tires are for show. Without them it weighs 10.3 lbs. With them it goes to just shy of 14. |
Ooh, a little bit of a piggy aint she? Once you put in the servo, ESC, and batteries, it should be right around 15-16lbs right? Still, that Neu should have no trouble at all powering it!

Sorry no, those were RTR wieghts. I have 1 picture posted where its still WIP, the rest it's got everything on board.

sweet truck...definitely looks pretty, and clean! excellent work to you and Mike!!!
do i spot a UE monobloc on there? (i think you mentioned that in the temp forum). i believe the FLM chassis is about the same extended length as a UE lightning - did mike make you the extended rear center dogbone? just wondering how close it is to one that i had to have made, which i believe was about 130.8mm. nice job. |

I said ti on the last topic you made about it, but I'll say it again. That is one hell of a killer truck you got there.
|
That is one nice truck. Was that your own design? What was the cost for the machining? I have a guy here in NJ that wats to charge me $45hr. to machine my chassis. If Mike can offer a better price, I'll give him a call. I will also see if he will test my ESC to see if he approves it. For sure your truck is too nice looking to drive.

Heres a link to the orignal thread- more pics showing the custom parts:

Ok, I'll talk to him after my controller gets here. I have a few chassis design done. It is not perfect, but I might do a prototype out of some balsa wood.
|
Wow. Very nice!
Hopefully we'll see that center diff/motor mount/battery tray thing show up in the store! |
Looks great.
Hmmmm...........maybe I should modify my FLM chassis???? :-) |
Never saw this!! OMG!! I must do something like this!! HEHE! Mine will be saddle style, I think!
