thinking of a brushless muggy. i have a g maxx with 6.5 all alluminum tranny but i dont really want to wheelyany more and not crazy about the handeling. seems like the muggy would be easy to convert affter the motor monut. dose any one know if i could use the stock spur. whats up wwith fine design they look pretty solid

Fine design are not good conversions in general. His equipment is not matched very well. He uses motors that will run very hot, and batterys that have mariginal capacity for heavy power requirements. The muggy is a big heavy truck. You will have to have some pretty big motor/esc combo and run it on high voltage. I will be trying an aftershock/lst conversion soon. Check the search feature here, I think someone else converted a muggy recently. You can use the stock spur with hardened pinions from the rc monster store. Contact mike as he can custom make you a motor mount if you like.

I'm sure the muggy would make an awesome handling conversion. I have an 8ight-T that works great and the Muggy, as far as the layout, is very similar. I would highly recomend that you stay away from fine design. I have personal experience with sending a bad motor back that took out the speed control, which was'nt replaced the first time and then being sent a marine speed control in it's place(which is useless for cars) after waiting for almost three weeks as well as a suspect battery pack. I ended up selling motor, speed control, and mounts for a fraction of what I paid for them just to not have to deal with Chris anymore. Also, you are stuck using fd "bell pinions" if you use his motor mounts and imo they are junk as well. I'm not sure if Mike(RC Monster) sells a stock motor mount that will fit the muggy but if not he may be able to fab one up for you at a resonable cost. It is much better to locate the motor in the right, rear(stock batt. box location) so that yopu have all the room on the left side for mounting batteries and speed control. The stock spur gear will work fine as long as you use a hardened pinion and don't mind a little "racket".

i dont mind a little noise but i dont want to buy aton of gears that dont really hold up would a 8ight t be a better bet even if i dont plan on racing much mostly for the build and the bashing most importantly reliability. i wouldnt buy a fine design but thought it would be good for some one that was lazzy i gues not

i am currently converting a ofna jammin' CRT truggy. there is heaps of room on the chassis plate for all the gear plus mike makes a reversable mount. i.e: you can mount the motor in two different locations depending on the battery config. (1 or 2 packs).
i would definately recommend mike for unsurpassed quality products.

The 8ight-T is a very durable truck. The only issues on it I have encountered is the grub screws on the cvd pins backing off and spitting the cross-pins out. Once I lock-tited those screws and put heat shrink over the entire cvd I ceased to have that issue. With that said, I think the muggy would probably be a better choice for a basher just due the size of the arms and shocks; it just does'nt get any beefier. The hardened pinions that Mike sells are super tough. After a half dozen race days on the 14 I'm now runnin' there is absolutely no degradation of the pinion teeth. Only wear visible is a slight fading of the black color where the teeth mesh. As long as the mesh is set properly you should get a really long life out of one.

I've done both the Muggy and the 8ight T and I can say that they are not alike at all.

The Muggy was a pretty nice conversion and was pretty easy to do. I did get rid of the Muggy because I already had a Monster GT conversion and liked it better.

The 8ight T is a tougher truck than the Muggy was. I bash the heck out of my 8ight and haven't broken anything significant. The 8ight would also be an eaisier conversion since Mike sells a mount.
