XRay M18 Pro brushless system help

Hey everyone, I recently bought an X-Ray M18 Pro kit, waiting for it to arrive in the mail, I was just wondering I know most of you guys are familiar with the larger scale brushless systems but I need a little help. I want the best brushless setup there is, but I've no idea what that may be, leaning toward a quark esc 33a procar but I need a beast of a motor to go with it. Any suggestions? Money is no object on this car I want it to be COMPLETELY awesome. I need help choosing an ESC and a Motor but I want to stay away from Castle Creations as i'm not too fond of them. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

If the small Neus fit, I would get the 1110/1D. I use the 33A and the 8K motor from CC.

In which vehicle do you have it in? And how do you like the performance of the quark and cc?

I have it in a normal M18, well some what normal. The motor is center mounted and it has a Penguin chassis.

ah, seems like the 1110 series of neu's are pretty long, any suggestions if it can't fit? know of any hacker models that are "370" sized?

I use a 33A with a Hyperion HP22S-3000 and I know they make a 5000. It is a 4 pole design and has plenty of torque.

Oh wow, I like that, it even shows the m18 as its test subject, I may just have to wait. And on another note I just helped my buddy install the mamba 25 and 8k motor into his 18t with foam tires and it flies, got a little hot but it was to be expected with the way he drives. Any idea of the dimensions of a normal sized "370" or "380" ? As far as I can tell from neumotors.com the size of the can is 1.14" wide x 1.8" Long with a shaft diameter of 3.2mm and an optional 2.3mm, shaft length is .75". Thats all the info I can muster up but I've nothing to compare those specs to. I'd love to use a neu motor as I've heard such great things about them and I know they work wonders with quark controllers, I'm willing to settle for less but this is def. on the top of the list of possibilities. Thanks for the help!

I think the 370 or 380 are 28mm diameter and that Neu is 29mm.

I put a Tekin system in my M18 Pro. It's nice smooth, easy to configure, and from what I've read in the specs, it'll handle 4S lipo.

lutach 09.11.2007 11:28 PM

I got a little ESC coming to me in a few days that handles 6S lipos and has a set up for A123 cells as well.

I had an tekin 6.8 on 4s(with no ubec!) in my rc18t. Super smooth. Now the tekin esc is in my MIST (mini inferno ST) with a multiplex 5200kv 4 pole motor running on 3s and it is even smoother(no hint of cogging at all ever!). I :angel:love:angel: this motor! Very high quality! Tekin makes a good esc; period.

Bye:mdr:

Sweet, you guys are awesome, but now there's so many options available to me that I didn't even know existed! Two more questions, what would be a really good charger for such small packs? And what's the best mini steering servo out there? Thanks for the massive amounts of info. you guys have already given me!

wallot 09.12.2007 07:46 AM

I use GH4700 with mamba 25 on3S lipo in my miniquake. and mq is very close to M18 in size.

I use Futaba S9650 servo
