diffs

What is the best way to get the old fluid out of a buggy dif. I just got a LSP off of ebay for 200.00,
and it's in petty bad shape as far as the bearings and fluids.

Remove the ring gear, and then all the internal gears. I would clean everything out and start fresh.

A little trick I found that makes cleaning the smaller spider gears much easier is to use an air compressor and blow the oil off. Just use needlenose pliers to hold it in place and also use a napkin or something behind it or the oil will get all over you. :)

Nitro fuel works as well. I just use some old fuel that wouldn't be good enough to run in a vehical.

Good old brake cleaner(aerosol) from the auto parts store, it works just like nitro clean. It also has a tube that you can direct the blast. I use a small stainless screen cup to hold the gears and blast the brake cleaner into it. That keeps the parts from getting lost. A kitchen store had these screens with handles, or walmart may have them. The brake cleaner is about 2 bucks a can and will do about 6 diffs. Alot faster than rags or soaking IMO.

I use something called WD40 http://www.wd40.com/Brands/wd40.cfm.

Dont know if that is easy to get where you live.

I just put some WD40 in a small jar o glass and put all the parts in it and just stir och shake it around a little! Works really well :)
