E-Maxx, 3600XL, 12 cell gearing combos?
Hello Guys,
I'm new here and I've been reading some of the combos being run. I have a 3600XL I would like to try on 12 cells and wonder what gear ratios to try. A good base line is what I'm really after. Thanks, Paul. |
What controller are you using? Don't gear it too high, because the 3600 is a hot motor!

What are you doing with the truck? Bashing? racing? waht terrain? The 3600 is a bit hot for the maxx(although they are loads of fun!). Look at around a 13 tooth pinion on the stock spur. the 8s is hotter for sure, but really has no business being run on 12 cells in an e-maxx!

honestly a 3100 is a tad to hot. yesterday i swisted a stock slider into a pretzel. literally.

I used to race with an xl3600(couple years ago). It is warm, but the power is very nice. I would get a heatsink and a fan and it will be a great, powerful setup.

honestly, powerful is an understatement

Hi Guys,
Well, as far as what I do with the E-Maxx I race it every once in a while and bash with it more often. I generally run on dirt/clay with some grass running now and then but not very much. I did a search and the 3600XL kept popping up as a good motor on 12 cells but maybe there is a better option? Here's a list of motors I have, maybe someone could give me an idea of a better combo. BTW: the 8S is run on 8 cells, pretty quick and has won me several races. The only problem is it's hard on the batts so I'd rather run the 12 cell packs and reduce my current draw a bit. Lehner; 3100XL, 3600XL, 4200XL, 5000XL. I also have a 2280/11 but I think that's a bit much for an E-Maxx, lol. Hacker; 6S, 7S, 8S, 8L, 14L, 13XL. Aveox, 36/30/1.5 That's about it for the stuff that would bolt into the truck, the rest of my motors are a bit to much for the Maxx. Thanks Guys, Paul. |
Hey Guys,
Here's a pic of the truck, it weighs about 10 pounds RTR. http://www.skullcaps.com/boats/emaxx1.jpg Paul. |
The 2280 would be my pick!!!:L: If you are going to stick with 12 cells I think the XL 3100 or Hacker 8L would be a better choice. Nice collection of BL motors!
Thank you, Promod |
wanna get rid of one or two?
|
definately the 2280/11 on a 18s lipo pack......but you might want to upgrade the stock sliders......
seriously though....I would go with the combo's promod recommended |
Promod took the words out of my mouth. The Hacker will need something to prevent the can from popping(like my heatsink/motor clamp), but both will peform excellent(and similar). the Hacker will run cooler and have a bit more torque, but also will likely have slightly less runtime(very slightly less). Nice motor collection, by the way!
|
Nice collection indeed! You're into planes or boats, right?
|
2280... No doubt..
I'll get my toolbox.. |
