rustler mod 1 gearing

I don't know if it will help anyone, but a monster gt 46 tooth spur will fit on the original rustler slipper (not xl-5) with NO MODIFICATIONS, allowing mod 1 pinions on 5mm shaft motors. If you do have an xl-5 you just need to switch the input shaft and slipper. That, a steel idler and vxl spec diff(#2381X) have kept me happily bashing for weeks in a stock tranny housing. BASH ON!

That's pretty sweet. I didn't know about the MGT gears. If I hadn't already upgraded my slipper to the XL5 I'd probably buy one of those gears. If you have the XL5 slipper you only need to buy the Revo spurs. They're already a direct fit to that slipper. That VXL diff is a good idea, though. Or, you can get the FLM steel diff from Mike.

If you mod the mgt spurs to fit the xl5 slipper you have the best of both worlds. The stock slipper sucks for a heavy/over-powered pede. I use the xl-5 slipper with jato spurs and 32p pinions and have not had a single problem. The mgt pinions just need the ctr hole enlarged to use the xl5 bearing, and 3 of the "peg holes" opened up to fit over the bolt bosses on the slipper hub, 2 minutes with the drill, at most!
