2 Brushless ESCs / One Motor???
 

I was just thinking... I know that it is possible to run 2 brushless motors on one ESC if you get the motors timing syncronized. Has anyone ever tried setting up 2 controllers to run one motor? I'm just thinking out loud here, but would it be possible to have 2 controllers hooked up to one battery source via a Y splitter, one reciever via a Y harness and one motor and effectivly split the load between the 2 controllers? I was just thjinking that I have 2 Quark Contorllers sitting here that I dont run any more because I hate tring to keep them cool, but If I were to set them up to split the load, they would probably run nice and cool.

Anyone ever try this? Any thoughts on the pitfalls of trying this? Not sure If I will try it, but I was just thinking about it and wanted get some thoughts on the idea.

Could it be done? Would the contorllers "fight" each other, or work together?

Just off the top of my head... no, I doubt it will work. The signals they will throq back and forth, to and from the motor and what not will make them say, WTF?!

Maybe Griffin can reply on this one, and elaborate?

Wonder if there may be a way to "dumb" one of the controllers so its a slave.

I asked this question a while back; the answer is no. Arthur (griffinRU) explained what the problem is with trying something like that, but there is a solution. He calls it the stage 2 modification to the MM esc. You basically bolt two power boards together which have the FETs mounted on them, and then bolt the MM brain to them; this has the effect of doubling the amp handling from 100ish to 200ish amps constant, but it does not increase the voltage handling- he is working on a version 3a & 3b to do that....

Yeah, you could ask Griffin if he would be interested in mounting up your second Quarks FET board to your other Quark controller, and effectively make it a Quark 250amp... :diablo:

Hmmm... Now you have me thinking. Wonder how hard it would be to actually do that??

I'm pretty handy with a slodering iron, but I'm not sure i would kknow what to sloder.

I think all you have to solder all the 'pins' from the FET board to the one above it. I don't know if it is just the four at the end that matter, or all of them?

That would be one nice controller, would run very cool.

It does sound like a rather nice idea. probably better to PM him and see what he says- not sure if he is back from vacation yet though.
