It lives! Just too out the CRT .5 for a quick test run!

All I have to say is:

EEK!

This thing is CRAZY fast. 1/2 throttle and it was yanking the front wheels up like no tomorrow or just lighting all 4 up when there wasn't enough traction for wheelies.

I never really got it up to anything past 1/2 throttle, but from what I can tell, its got more oomph than my 18T, which is something I never thought possible. No matter what speed you are at, any increase in throttle results in an instant lurch forward as you hear the whine of the motor grow.

Since I've never run the truck with the stock chassis, I can't comment much on how they compare. However, one could assume that the truck is generally more stable due to the increase in wheel base. Right now it looks very much like a short, 4wd Jato or RC10GT.

Once I get everything smoothed out and get my body painted, I'll do a final write up - but I just couldn't contain myself...its just so awesome. It handles extremely well, and thats without any suspension tweaking. Once the suspension is dialed in, I wouldn't be surprised if you could keep up to some touring cars. It feels so light and nimble yet also very stable so long as you don't give it too much throttle. Its the first vehicle I've ever owned that has a center diff, so I'm still getting use to how it drives in certain aspects. I've noticed that high throttle input through a turn seems to result in the rear end getting kicked out quite wildly.

Well, thats it for now, I'm gonna go back to seeing what I can tweak on it. :mdr:

Sounds great!! Looking forward to more progress... Are you running the exact set up as in your signature right now?

BJE 10.10.2007 07:27 PM

Hey, BP-Revo, would you mind posting a few pics of your .5 with and without the body? This conversion sounds great and I am also looking foward to progress on this.

+1^

we need some naked pics please

BlackedOutREVO 10.21.2007 12:58 AM

Uhhhh ohhh

I hope he doesnt post pics, he does have my dream set up, I might be back on the crt.5 ball lol, sounds like TOO much fun =)

But really, POST PICS NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BP-Revo 10.21.2007 01:01 AM

Not until my body is done. :na:

BlackedOutREVO 10.21.2007 01:02 AM

:diablo::neutral:Your mean

Thats not cool lol

Does the body on it look dumb? Or does it fit pretty good? Are you running the 30's?

BP-Revo 10.21.2007 01:18 AM

I'm not running the 30's anymore. They wobble horribly. I did notice that some of the bead was coming undone, which might account for it. However, if it still wobbles after I fix the beads, I might do some mods to it that I plan to do to the modded Road Rages I have on my G2R...

I plan to cut the tires down to the bare tread, and glue them directly to the rim with no foams.

The only disadvantage I see is possible reduced traction as the tire isn't able to mold to the surface. Other disadvantage is that I can't jump the truck anymore (but this is just for running outside my house, so it really doesn't matter much).

However, I see tons of advantages like no ballooning, reduced weight, and very small chance for wobble.

BlackedOutREVO 10.21.2007 01:35 AM

what gearing are you running??? With my set up on three cell running about
50 I think it was... That stinks on the tires though

BP-Revo 10.21.2007 02:09 AM

I'm running a 17T pinion. Speeds are probably about 40mph or so, conservatively. This is a track machine so for now that is plenty...

BlackedOutREVO 10.21.2007 11:35 AM

ohhh yeah thats right I forgot it was the track truck...I would
bash mine.. Do you thinks its a worthy bash car??? With it all
ext and all?

BP-Revo 10.21.2007 02:28 PM

I would say its bash worthy. It depends on how hard you bash. I bash somewhat light so track duty actually puts a helluva lot more strain on the trucks...

It seems to be a tough truck...from what I saw at RCX, its just as tough as any 1/8 scale buggy is...which is pretty darn tough.

BlackedOutREVO 10.21.2007 02:40 PM

I don't bash that hard really.. Its the grass and and rough dirt that can get cars stuck.. My FLM mamba pede did too many wheelie's and no traction in grass with moabs so thats where 4wd would rock buy the CRT is lower.... Still I think the CRT.

BP-Revo 10.21.2007 03:00 PM

Well, Pede's are wheelie happy, which prevents you from putting down too much power...and the 2wd kind of prevents any extreme off roading

The CRT will be fine in tall grass and rough dirt. I wouldn't go so far as to run Moabs (kind of large) but Gladiators would be the perfect size with the EXT chassis...

With the EXT chassis, just think of the CRT .5 as a 4wd RC10T4

Yeah, 2wd is a no good basher really....... Atleast around here.

I wont run moabs on the .5, Those are waaay to big for the little guy, but thinking about them gives me ideas to cut them, and glue them back togather so there around the 4 or so inch mark, because moabs rule!

I dont want to run pins, I have always went from running on dirt, to street and then there gone, so I need more a all terrain tire, Im thinking the 30's road rage, and dirt hawgs I belive they are, because I have heard of the prolem your having, the jato guys say they work fine, so I still have hope there

If possible, can you get a pic with the 30's on? Or in front of the ones your running so I can see how they look with the painted () body:intello:
