Converting a 15lb beastly truggzilla to brushless.
 

I am unbelievably tired of $30 per gallon fuel, tuning, glow plugs, fumes,
break-in, after run oil, air filter cleaning, burnt up clutch every 5 runs, lots of noise, starter boxes, glow ignitors, fuel filters, stinger burns, melted bodys, angry neighbors, losing compression, AIR LEAKS, dirt sticking to the greasy fuel spattered truggy, vibration loosening screws, stalling, fouled glow plugs, blown gaskets and all that crud.

But I don't want to lose the awesome power of nitro, I've been running nitro since the beginning for about 2 years now, last year my dad entered the hobby with a Mambafied B4, My Losi Muggy weighs over 15lbs and still hauls ass.

I can easily place a cola can in the position of the engine so that's about the size electric motor I could use, I want it to top 4hp or something like that so I never miss nitro. If that's possible.

I'll start getting some pictures as soon as my camera is charged.

4hp isn't needed. You'll be blown away with brushless as compared to nitro, no doubt. What kinda budget and what kinda speed?

Nice looking muggy. How did you find the badlands, I have a set on the way? I'm sure these guys can set you up with something you won't be disappointed with. Will definitely dominate nitros and will be far more consistent too.

I wouldn't personally run 6S on a 6S Max ESC. Instead, I'd keep a bit of room for error, and to compensate for voltage spikes under braking (just makes it a bit safer and less chance to fry).

However, Jhautz has the idea. for STUPID power I'd personally do 6S on a 16024 with a Neu 1521...

I'm looking to spend under $800, Jthiessen, I don't think that was me, lots of people want to sell their muggies now because of clutch problems I could have converted it many times with the money I spent on the clutch burning up.

I plan to be here for a long time, I've been using LSTforums.com up until now.

I got my dad into the hobby with max 5700 in a B4 factory team kit, Are a sure the Mamba max ESC can handle a cola-can motor and 6s lipo?!

The MM can handle more than you think, but I would never run one in a Muggy, or on more than 4S for that matter. You don't need a cola-can sized motor either. I think a Neu 1521 is more than enough. I would personally go with a KB45.

About the 4HP thing: You have to remember that 4HP on a nitro engine is usually at or near max rpm. At lower rpms, there is MUCH less power. Electric HP feels wayyy different than gas engine HP. With electric, you have max torque right at 1rpm, so it feels MUCH more aggressive. IMO, "electric 4HP" would give you grief from blown diffs, twisted axles, etc. Like jhautz said; 6s lipo, 1515 2.5d, and MGM ESC would do well.

On our Austrian Forum we have a german guy (Memkafalamed) running his brushless Muggy with the following setup:

Lehner 2230/13 Hi-Amp
Schulze 40.160WK
6s 2200mah Lipos 25C / 6s 2500mah Lipos 25C

His Muggy wheighs around 5.8Kg (12.78lb). Every electric component runs cool and he managed to get 3rd position in his last race while competing with nitros. His runtime is around 8 minutes on thick grass. Although batteries and motor are on the same side, it is well balanced.

I personally would go with a Neu/Jazz kombo with 8s lipo.

Thats the first time ive ever seen someone put a V8 in their RC. I used to have a Camero with a V8.:whistle:

I don't exactly know what your saying no to, but I can assure you it won't look anywhere near that. First off, no gas tank, second, no huge motor twice the size of anything reasonable, and third, you'll need a place for the batteries, so I'm gonna go ahead and say the RX box has to go.
