crt .5 plastic spur thoughts

i was looking at the robinson racing spur and thinking

could i mount this up and modify a plastic spur to bolt up to this by cutting out the center of it and bolting it together?

it looks possible, i would just need to have clearance on the sevo and run the pinion out a little bit

let me know your thoughts on this thanks

You don't necessarily need a plastic spur. You could use a hardened pinion.

Serum is right. Save yourself the trouble and just run the stock steel spur with one of Mikes hardened pinions. They work great.

One word: earplugs.

Seriously, if you are really concerned about it, you could use a Kyosho 46T spur, but will need other modifications. You could even use a CD from a 8th scale buggy if you are going to go that far. But, the footprint will be different, which will require new chassis holes and shorter driveshaft.

I did quite a bit of discussion about using different spurs in this thread (starts at post #117). There are a bunch of pics and measurements of the spurs and different ideas I had if that helps you at all...
